Powerful speech by @SecRubio in Athens yesterday. I recommend it to anyone who cares about the future of the West and ensuring the future of our shared U.S.-European heritage built on freedom, faith, courage, and the rule of law. As the Secretary noted, "We are at a crossroads. ... We will either choose to act now or lose the choice to act at all."
We believe that the West can awaken from its long slumber – and rekindle the fire that was first lit in ancient Greece millennia ago.

Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists unleashed unimaginable brutality against innocent Israelis.  It was the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust. Since then, Jewish communities have faced hatred, intimidation, and violence on a scale we have not seen in generations. We cannot be silent. We must confront antisemitism wherever it appears and hold accountable those who promote or perpetrate it. Jewish people must be able to live freely and safely, without fear. We pray for the victims, their families, and the survivors. We stand with Israel. And we stand against antisemitism.

We had extra special guests in the building today – the Vince Lombardi Trophy and a few Super Bowl rings to keep it company! Will one of the teams playing in the @NFLUKIRE London Games take them home this season?! 🇬🇧🇺🇸🏈🏟️

These time capsules are a powerful symbol of 250 years of history, friendship, and shared sacrifice between our two great nations. Our joint values will continue to guide our partnership for generations to come.
Today, a time capsule marking 250 years of shared 🇬🇧🇺🇸 history was buried at the Washington Monument, mirroring one placed under Washington's statue in Trafalgar Square. A wonderful representation of our common ideals, principles, and sacrifices

Proud of the excellent collaboration with UK authorities on the situation near RAF Fairford. In the face of threats from hostile actors, our two countries are working together to keep our citizens safe, at home and abroad.

President Trump has made clear that international organizations must get back to basics and that U.S. participation in them must be aligned with America’s interests.  With @IMOHQ, we are doing just that. A year ago, the IMO was considering a global tax that would have hurt American businesses. Today, we are making a historic contribution to reaffirm the safety, security, and freedom of the seas that sustain the global economy. I was happy to host Secretary-General Dominguez and colleagues last night to announce our new $5.4 million voluntary commitment, which will go a long way toward protecting global shipping, ports, and coastal trade against evolving threats, ensuring the IMO’s focus on its core work of bolstering maritime security globally.

Great to welcome Vice Admiral Richard Seif, Commander, U.S. Submarine Forces. We discussed the depth of the U.S.-UK defense partnership and the recent collaboration with our AUKUS allies in developing technologies which will provide greater undersea security and deterrence.

This is a historic milestone for the U.S., UK, and AUKUS. The @USNavy and @RoyalNavy successfully test launched an exercise U.S. Mk 48 torpedo from an unmanned UK undersea vehicle in Scotland. American and British technology and capabilities working together to deliver the interoperability that will make AUKUS a formidable alliance.

In the aftermath of 9/11, the British people joined us in mourning. We received thousands of letters and mementos at our embassy from people across the UK, and those tributes bear witness to the strong friendship between our nations. If you recognize any of these items or took the time to express your solidarity with us 25 years ago, we’d love to hear from you. Share and comment below.

Harriet and I found it incredibly moving to join our British friends last week in remembering the events and victims of 9/11 at Lloyd’s of London's beautiful service. If you need proof of the profound and unbreakable bond between the United States and United Kingdom, look no further than our financial sectors in the wake of 9/11. My thanks to everyone who shared their powerful recollections of that tragic day, and to the Lloyd’s choir for their stirring rendition of “God Bless America.”  Watch the full service here: youtube.com/live/qB_SFKmWbiU

Today we gathered in solemn remembrance at the 9/11 Memorial in the Botanical Gardens for a commemoration ceremony to mark 25 years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. U.S. Consul General Antoinette Hurtado, Governor Andrew Murdoch, and Minister of National Security Ryan Perinchief gave remarks and participated in a wreath laying, joined by Warwick Academy students. The ceremony also featured a Royal Bermuda Regiment bugler playing Taps, heartfelt prayers by interfaith leaders, and a moment of silence for the fallen. Thank you to everyone who joined us to remember the thousands of lives lost that day and the brave heroes who risked their lives to help others. We will never forget. @BdaGovernment @BermudaRegiment @BermudaPolice @WarwickAcademy

On a day of unimaginable tragedy, ordinary people stood up as heroes on 9/11, one of whom was Rick Rescorla. Rick was a proud Cornishman and a decorated U.S. Army officer who worked as head of security for @MorganStanley in the South Tower. His foresight, courage & selflessness saved almost all of the company’s 2,700 employees on 9/11. His bravery & heroism alongside many, many others, will never be forgotten.

On September 13, 2001, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II made history by directing the U.S. National Anthem to be played during the Changing of the Guard, the first time another nation’s anthem had been played during the ceremony. Today, Harriet and I were honored to witness that tribute repeated to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11. We are deeply grateful to the Royal Family and the British people for standing with the United States in our time of need, and for the enduring friendship between our two nations.

Harriet and I were honored to join Sir Charles Roxburgh at the @LloydsofLondon 9/11 Remembrance Service. The private sector played a leading role in the wake of the attacks, demonstrating solidarity, supporting families, communities, and companies most affected on both sides of the Atlantic, while keeping the global economy moving forward.

Harriet and I were proud to stand with our British allies and invited guests on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, to remember those we lost and those whose lives were forever changed. We dedicated a memorial stone and were moved by the Embassy’s commemorative exhibit displaying items left by the British public in solidarity in the aftermath of the attacks. Twenty five years later, our nations continue to stand together.
