Proud to join City of Miami Police Chief Edwin Lopez to present the Miami Police Department with a $2.1 million Department of Justice grant to strengthen frontline policing in our community. This funding will put 34 new marked police vehicles on Miami’s streets—replacing aging cruisers, improving officer safety and reliability, and giving our officers the equipment they need to respond quickly and keep our city safe. We will continue investing in the men and women of law enforcement who protect Miami every day. @MiamiPD

A Coconut Grove art dealer has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for selling forged Andy Warhol artwork using fraudulent invoices, fabricated authentication documents, and counterfeit stamps. By exploiting the trust buyers place in legitimate galleries, he profited through deception and undermined confidence in the art market. This sentence sends a clear message: those who attempt to enrich themselves through fraud — whether in finance, art, or any other industry — will be exposed and held accountable.

A decades‑long bribery and money laundering scheme that siphoned more than $80 million from thousands of franchise owners has been uncovered — and a grand jury has returned an indictment. Authorities allege that Janet Risi Field and her brother secretly took millions in illicit payments while hiding the truth behind shell companies and slush funds. The message is clear: long-running corruption will be exposed, and those who abuse their power to defraud hardworking business owners will be held accountable.

A Miami real estate developer has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for defrauding investors of approximately $89 million, funding a lavish lifestyle with stolen money, failing to pay payroll taxes, and lying to secure financing for a 68‑foot yacht. Federal investigators uncovered the years‑long scheme built on deception and greed — and held its architect accountable. Fraud won’t be hidden behind luxury. It will be found, and it will be prosecuted.

The defendant allegedly used police-style lights and a siren, claimed he could help with immigration matters in exchange for money, brandished a firearm, and threatened the victim and his son. Impersonating a federal officer to intimidate or exploit others is a federal crime. Those who abuse the authority and reputation of law enforcement for personal gain will be investigated and held accountable.

Alex Nain Saab Moran--an ally of the Maduro regime--has pleaded guilty to conspiring to launder proceeds from a bribery and fraud scheme involving Venezuela’s public food and medicine program. The scheme used shell companies around the world to conceal hundreds of millions of dollars in illicit proceeds. His guilty plea marks a significant breach in a network that siphoned public resources for personal enrichment. The outcome demonstrates that exploiting humanitarian programs and misusing U.S. financial channels carries serious federal consequences, no matter one’s influence or affiliations.

U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones joined our federal partners at ATF to promote the “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” campaign, a nationwide effort to combat illegal straw purchases of firearms. Buying a firearm for someone who cannot legally purchase or possess one is not a favor—it’s a federal crime. Working alongside ATF and our law enforcement partners, the U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to holding accountable those who illegally put firearms into the hands of prohibited persons and helping keep South Florida communities safe. Don’t lie for the other guy. Know the law.

🚨South Florida Resident Pleads GUILTY to Smuggling Firearms from Florida to Haiti as Part of Homeland Security Task Force Initiative Jean Robert Casimir, 53, a naturalized U.S. citizen of Lauderhill, Florida, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court to conspiracy, smuggling, and violations of U.S. export control law for his role in an extensive firearms trafficking operation through which he illegally exported at least 140 firearms to Haiti since 2020. To smuggle the firearms to Haiti, Casimir and his co-conspirators used, among other techniques, industrial air compressors that they cut open and welded back together, packing disassembled rifles and handguns with foam insulation. Casimir and his co-conspirators then shipped these and other packages to Haiti via boats leaving from the Miami area. Casimir is a former Haitian National Police officer.
