Thank you, President @fiupresident, for honoring me as a 2026 FIU CasaCuba Founder. As a proud FIU Law alumnus, this recognition is especially meaningful. @CasaCuba_FIU preserves the history, sacrifices, and legacy of the Cuban American community for future generations.
Replying to @CasaCuba_FIU
@CasaCuba_FIU exists so the story of the Cuban exile community is told by the people who lived it. Grateful to U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones for joining us at Reagan House this morning. CasaCuba existe para que la historia del exilio cubano la cuenten quienes la vivieron. Gracias al fiscal federal Jason Reding Quiñones por acompañarnos esta mañana.

A rockin’ good time celebrating my former trial bench colleague, Judge Thomas Rebull, at his investiture yesterday following his elevation to Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal. A well-deserved honor for a terrific judge; and a memorable ceremony kicked off by Gov. DeSantis’s General Counsel David Axelman delivering an incredible electric-guitar rendition of the National Anthem. 🇺🇸🎸

Proud to join City of Miami Police Chief Edwin Lopez to present the Miami Police Department with a $2.1 million Department of Justice grant to strengthen frontline policing in our community. This funding will put 34 new marked police vehicles on Miami’s streets—replacing aging cruisers, improving officer safety and reliability, and giving our officers the equipment they need to respond quickly and keep our city safe. We will continue investing in the men and women of law enforcement who protect Miami every day. @MiamiPD

A Coconut Grove art dealer has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for selling forged Andy Warhol artwork using fraudulent invoices, fabricated authentication documents, and counterfeit stamps. By exploiting the trust buyers place in legitimate galleries, he profited through deception and undermined confidence in the art market. This sentence sends a clear message: those who attempt to enrich themselves through fraud — whether in finance, art, or any other industry — will be exposed and held accountable.

Glad to attend Justice John Couriel’s CLE this afternoon at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Coral Gables on “My Faith in Practice: The Rule of Law Inside and Out.” Justice Couriel offered a thoughtful and personal reflection on the scriptural foundations of legal thought, the importance of the rule of law, and how those principles should guide the work we do every day.

Monster.
A West Palm Beach man has been sentenced to 235 months in federal prison for selling over 200 videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The message is clear: if you exploit children, traffic in their abuse, or attempt to profit from their suffering, law enforcement will find you and bring you to justice. You cannot hide behind a screen.

Today, we announced the takedown of a drug trafficking enterprise operating in Palm Beach, St. Lucie, and Broward Counties. More than 20 people are in custody. Agents seized massive amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine smuggled from California.   Since February 2025, Statewide Prosecutors have nearly doubled prison time for drug traffickers. myfloridalegal.com/newsrelea…

Another one by SDFL.
Alvaro Pulido Vargas was charged years ago with participating in massive money laundering and bribery schemes tied to the Maduro regime. The allegations describe a profound betrayal of the Venezuelan people; corrupting government programs intended to provide critical food, medicine, and housing for personal enrichment. Today, because of the persistence and coordination of our federal law enforcement and international partners, Pulido Vargas is in the Southern District of Florida to face those charges. Those accused of exploiting the American financial system should understand that distance, borders, and time will not shield them from the reach of the American legal system. We will continue working with our partners at home and abroad to bring defendants before an American court to answer for the charges against them.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of speaking to law enforcement leaders from across the state at the Florida PBA Leadership Conference. I highlighted our Office’s unwavering commitment to backing law enforcement, carrying out President Trump’s law-and-order priorities, and delivering results. Under this administration, violent crime is down, law enforcement is being supported, and our communities are safer. We are proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the men and women who put on the badge every day to protect Florida.

A Venezuelan national has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison for trafficking cocaine, possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, and arranging a methamphetamine deal while on bond. Even after arrest, he continued dealing drugs from home confinement. This case goes to show that armed drug traffickers who endanger our communities will be identified, prosecuted, and removed from our streets.

Proud of this team and the incredible work our federal prosecutors are delivering every day for South Florida.
Our FY2026 numbers are starting to come in, and they reflect incredible work by our federal prosecutors in the Southern District of Florida. This year, we built capacity, hired more than 85 lawyers, reorganized our Criminal Division around the threats of today and tomorrow, and aligned our culture around three principles: Protect Americans. Restore Impartial Justice. Defend the Rule of Law. The results: 1,230 cases filed. 1,611 defendants charged. Violent-crime filings up 16.2% and Illegal-reentry filings up 107.4% vs the Biden years. And we’re just getting started.

We shut down his website. Now we need your help finding him. Faheem Akram is charged with operating a counterfeit postage scheme that allegedly sold more than 5 million fake shipping labels and caused more than $126 million in losses to the U.S. Postal Service. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. If you know where he is, call Postal Inspectors at 1-877-876-2455 and say “Law Enforcement.” Do not attempt to apprehend him yourself.

Former Congressman David Rivera betrayed the South Florida community he once represented. He sold his anti-communist brand to the Maduro regime, secretly using his political access to advance its communist interests in America while pocketing millions of dollars. Today, he was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and ordered to forfeit the proceeds of his crimes.
A former U.S. congressman has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after being convicted of secretly lobbying on behalf of the Venezuelan government, failing to register as a foreign agent, and laundering money tied to the scheme. The case sends a clear message: access, influence, and previous public office place no one above the law.

A decades‑long bribery and money laundering scheme that siphoned more than $80 million from thousands of franchise owners has been uncovered — and a grand jury has returned an indictment. Authorities allege that Janet Risi Field and her brother secretly took millions in illicit payments while hiding the truth behind shell companies and slush funds. The message is clear: long-running corruption will be exposed, and those who abuse their power to defraud hardworking business owners will be held accountable.

A Miami real estate developer has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for defrauding investors of approximately $89 million, funding a lavish lifestyle with stolen money, failing to pay payroll taxes, and lying to secure financing for a 68‑foot yacht. Federal investigators uncovered the years‑long scheme built on deception and greed — and held its architect accountable. Fraud won’t be hidden behind luxury. It will be found, and it will be prosecuted.

Grateful to the League of Prosecutors for recognizing me with this year’s President’s Award for dedication to honor, integrity, and fairness in service to the people of Florida and the United States. It was especially meaningful to share the evening with my former colleague on the bench, Judge Cristina Miranda, who received the Justice Award, and with all of this year’s deserving honorees. Thankful for the recognition, and even more thankful for the opportunity to continue serving.
