JUST IN: 🇫🇷 French President Macron says "there is no room for violence" as protests and riots continue in France. "Those who have looted our town halls, and attacked prefectures as well as businesses, will be prosecuted and punished."

Dear @AirCanada, I am extremely disappointed with the appalling service on my flight AC1293 from Houston to Vancouver today. At Houston Airport, your staff accepted my checked bag without giving me a luggage tag, claiming their system was down and asking me to just take a photo as proof. Later, right before boarding, I received a call saying my bag was sent to Lost & Found because it had no tag! Your airport staff refused to take responsibility. My bag contains expensive wedding items. My relatives had to pick it up from Lost & Found, but I now need my bag delivered to my home address in Canada urgently. Please resolve this and arrange delivery immediately. Booking Ref: 0142336889401 #AirCanada #CustomerService #LostLuggage #AC1293

🚨🇫🇷👮 ALERTE INFO !

Most people in France can't afford housing. They didn't blame immigrants, or transgender people, or video games, or avocado toast. They blame the government. Because that's who's responsible. That's always who's responsible.

Mr. Macron made his bed when he assured POTUS that he welcomes atrocities against Iranians. Too late to blame the war his ilk helped cause. The French people demand wholesale change, including freedom of assembly. Listen to the future of France, Mr. President.

Omar El Akkad, author of One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This, tells Novara Media why he believes he has no right to dictate how people resist occupation. He also says he is certain that “Palestine will be free,” because colonialism requires its perpetrators to “get up every morning and tell yourself a lie,” something he believes is ultimately unsustainable.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Oh, FUCK OFF, Helen! Here we go again, blaming the welfare bill and telling ordinary people they need to make sacrifices! Funny how it’s ALWAYS the sick, disabled and struggling who are expected to pay the price, isn’t it? A politician claiming thousands in accommodation expenses lecturing people who are struggling to pay their fucking bills about sacrifice! START WITH THE SACRIFICES AT THE TOP FOR A CHANGE! Stop treating vulnerable people like they’re the problem whilst expecting everyone else to tighten their belts. THE HYPOCRISY IS FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE!!

Das System hieß „Where‘s Daddy“.

Here is the gravesite of my paternal grandparents. Their parents, my great grandparents, were enslaved. The slave master was Lodowick Meriweather Hill. He named his “slaves” LM -they could only have initials, not names- which is the birth name of my grandfather and father. Now what?
