At the CPHIA2026, Track 1 focuses on elevating Africa as a leader in a reformed and inclusive global health architecture. This means real governance seats, financing rules shaped with our finance ministers, and norms, standards and data systems built on this continent.
I invite ministers of health and finance, diplomats and our global health partners to join us in Addis Ababa from 23 to 27 November 2026. If you write policy, negotiate treaties or fund health systems, this is your table!

An informative session on HIV Prevention Investment Case by exploring priority interventions, cost-effectiveness, resource needs, & long-term sustainability with Avenir Health. Alongside UNAIDS HQ presented an innovative overview of Lenacapavir highlighting prevention approaches.
An overview of HIV prevention in Ethiopia and findings from the National Condom Assessment were shared, highlighting performance, challenges and availability gaps.
A discussion followed, with ideas and recommendations raised by participants to strengthen the prevention strategy

A team lunch with Letena Ethiopia after a strong collaboration on multiple initiatives for World AIDS Day. Grateful for the partnership and the impact we created together.
On this 37th World AIDS Day commemoration, UNAIDS, the Ministry of Health, UN partners, community representatives, and implementing partners came together to address remaining gaps and advance domestic resource mobilization to ensure a sustainable and resilient HIV response.
Free HIV testing is being provided by AHF Ethiopia (2-4 December) in UNECA, reinforcing the importance of knowing one’s status.
While UNFPA contributed sanitary pads to AASTU students emphasizing that access to essential health resources is key to supporting young women & girls.
UNAIDS Ethiopia displayed the HIV Response Exhibition, tracing the journey from the first reported HIV case to today, showcasing decades of progress driven by communities and partners.
The day also featured a bazaar highlighting the products made by PLHIV and PWD communities .
UNAIDS Ethiopia, with Letena Ethiopia, screened a powerful HIV documentary calling for renewed action to overcome disruptions.
In collaboration with UNFPA, we showcased the Abeba chatbot demo, highlighting how innovative tools expand access to accurate health information.
Today’s WAD celebration featured a meaningful panel discussion on focusing on how Ethiopia can secure sustainable HIV financing while ensuring an inclusive response that addresses the needs and rights of persons with disabilities.
