I graduated in December but haven’t gotten around to posting this yet.
A lot of people will tell you that a PhD isn’t worth it in the modern job market. In a way, they’re right; and that’s what they’re supposed to say.
And what you’re supposed to do, if you love to learn, is ignore that reasonable advice and do it anyway.
If it’s right for you, you’ll have an instinctive sense that there’s no amount of money equal to what we inherited from people like Einstein, Maxwell, Gauss, etc. anyway.
And by the way, @UMBCPhysics is a top-notch physics program. And if you want to learn about physics the way those guys did it, you wouldn’t do badly at all to work with @quthermo_comp .
