🚨🔴 Status Red weather warning: University classes cancelled until 11:00 am Monday 13 November 2023
As storm Debi moves across the country, Met Éireann has heightened the status warning for Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly and Westmeath to Status Red.
According to Met Éireann, this new Status Red warning is valid from 05:00 am to 08:00 am on Monday 13 November 2023.
As a result of this heightened extreme weather warning, the University is cancelling classes until 11:00 am and staff are advised to adhere to the guidance issued by Met Éireann and the National Emergency Coordination Group.
As advised by the National Emergency Coordination Group, under a Status Red warning travel is not advised during the period of the warning and until the alert has finished.
A Status Red alert is the forecaster's highest-level warning which has the potential to endanger human life, cause damage to exposed and vulnerable structures, disrupt services and transport, lead to significant power outages and cause fallen trees/branches.
The University will continue to monitor the Met Éireann weather warnings and the associated guidance from the National Emergency Coordination Group, and will provide updates on an ongoing basis.
Please follow our social media channels for updates.

🚨🌧️ Weather alert and University operations
Met Éireann has issued a series of wind weather warnings for overnight tonight Sunday 12 November into tomorrow morning Monday 13 November.
🟠 There is a Status Orange wind warning for Dublin and the surrounding counties which advises that persons should plan appropriately for the expected weather conditions.
Under the current Status Orange warning for Dublin, the University remains open.
If you are planning on travelling to the University you should be cognisant of the risks posed to property and persons by the predicted winds and plan your journey accordingly.
All unnecessary journeys should be avoided during the time periods covered by the Status Orange weather warning.
If you are located in a county affected by a Status Red weather warning you should avoid all travel during the period of the warning.
UCD Estates Services will be on campus overnight to monitor the impact of the predicted winds.
The University will continue to monitor the Met Éireann weather warnings and the associated guidance from the National Emergency Coordination Group, and will provide updates on an ongoing basis.
Please follow the University social media channels for updates.
