Voting opens in the Greater Manchester mayoral byelection today 🗳️ We asked every candidate whether they would keep the previous mayor's promise to launch a #BasicIncome pilot in the region. Only the Green Party's @CogginsGeraldin confirmed that she would. #GreaterManchester

We've heard back from our first candidate! @CogginsGeraldin of @TheGreenParty has confirmed to @UBIManchester that if elected she'll keep @AndyBurnham's promise to develop and deliver a Basic Income pilot in Greater Manchester 🥳 Will the other candidates follow suit? 🤔

Last week, we wrote to every candidate in the upcoming byelection for Mayor of Greater Manchester. We asked if they would keep the promise made by outgoing mayor @AndyBurnham to develop and deliver a Basic Income pilot in Greater Manchester. That commitment should be honoured.

The Basic Income Movement hosted a briefing on basic income and regrowth to MPs in Westminster last week. It was wonderful to have the chance to speak to MPs about why #UBI is good for the economy and society. We hope MPs continue to explore the possibilities of basic income!
