Celebrating Ms Ulla Andren, former Regional Head of the Swedish Cooperation, Embassy of Sweden, Addis Ababa Ms. Ulla Andrén was instrumental in strengthening and sustaining the KAIPTC’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, particularly during moments of institutional and financial uncertainty. As the former Head of the Swedish Cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden - Addis Ababa, Ulla was a decisive advocate, ensuring that the Government of Sweden maintained its engagement with the Centre through targeted WPS programmes. Her timely intervention protected essential WPS initiatives and activities and allowed the KAIPTC to maintain momentum in advancing gender‑responsive peace and security efforts across West Africa. Ms. Andrén consistently provided strategic direction, thoughtful counsel, unwavering commitment and confidence in the Centre’s vision and mission. Her sustained interest in KAIPTC’s development made her a trusted advisor whose insights helped shape institutional priorities at critical junctures. Her influence extended beyond programme continuity. She helped strengthen KAIPTC’s gender‑focused partnerships, encouraged alignment with global & continental WPS commitments—particularly UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights on the Rights for Women in Africa and reinforced the Centre’s credibility as a leading African institution for peace and security. KAIPTC proudly honours Ms. Ulla Andrén for her leadership, advocacy, and enduring support to promote the WPS agenda in Africa. Her commitment ensured that WPS remained a well‑resourced, visible and strategically anchored pillar of the Centre’s work, making her one of the most significant champions of KAIPTC’s gender and peace efforts. #SIDA

100th Anniversary of Amílcar Cabral today. He stands out as 1 of the most profound jntellectuals & revolutionaries of the Pan-African movement, whose thinking resonate beyond the liberation of Guinea-Bissau & Cabo Verde. I shall continue my quest to disseminate his contributions.
