Service to all mankind…yes Soror💗💚
Throughout our history, the leaders of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. have stood up, spoken out, and done the work to fight for the promise of America while building a brighter future for our nation. It was an honor to join my sisters in Dallas today for the 71st Boule.

I weep because I’ve been this woman…I weep because I know women living this. I could not and will not look away. The brave women who spoke up with similar stories were targeted and continue to be. A shock was those who knew and turned a blind eye…this is how bad it can get.
On January 8th the VP of Student Affairs at Lincoln University Dr. Antoinette Candia-Bailey took her own life by suicide and it has left us with more questions than answers. Dr. Candia-Bailey had reportedly been experiencing workplace bullying and harassment. After reaching out to university leadership and her direct superior Dr. John Moseley, who is white, about his alleged abusive behavior and that of other leadership towards her, she did not feel her pleas for help were adequately addressed. Her struggle with severe depression and anxiety, which was being exacerbated due to her workplace experience at Lincoln University, led to her untimely death. The astounding details of this horrendous story underline so many things that we as Black women already knew to be true, but also showcase how high the costs have become within these conversations as our lives are literally at stake, and we are losing our sisters. In a heartfelt Op-Ed, God-is Rivera, Chief Content Officer for ESSENCE Ventures, explored the harsh realities Black women face in the workplace. At first you believe you are imagining it. Then the patterns persist. It is not attached to race every time…but there is a group that feels it more acutely than others…look for patterns…be sure…take action. #sayhername💔
