The @opry is hosting Jason Aldean at a fundraiser for the Covenant School in Nashville. One would think there are many other country music artists they could invite instead?

We sometimes criticize transit projects that cost $50k per rider or more, but @PANYNJ is spending $635k per parking space at JFK. This is hugely wasteful! We call on Port Authority to cancel this project and redirect the funds to PATH and JFK AirTrain. xitter.cf/urban_dispatch/status/…

Flashback: The Trump campaign orchestrated the fake electors scheme. Stephen Miller: “Today, an alternate slate of electors in contested states is going to vote, and we’re going to send those results up to Congress. This will ensure that all of our legal remedies remain open.”

Yes. Why does our town have wide crossings and center turn lanes in low volume roads? Why are there even questions about counting pedestrians before installing a safe crossing at a bus stop and where families need to cross the street to get to the one sidewalk?

As a pedestrian and a cyclist, I find the autonomous vs human driver debate maddening. It’s still a car that operates on poorly designed streets that have unsafe speed limits, creates noise & air pollution, is overbuilt & under-regulated, and kills thousands of children annually.

I keep meeting parents who've lost beautiful bright children w lives just beginning to unfold. Yesterday I met Alek's dad, a thoughtful man devastated by the loss of his young adult son. Alek was struck by an SUV driver while cycling. We've tolerated road fatalities far too long.

Our @SmartGrowthUSA Board Member Patrice Frey, and our fave collaborator @NatlMainStreet, nail this piece! The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund is a great opportunity to realize the benefits of focusing on reuse and location-efficient buildings!
"Reusing existing buildings typically saves between 50-75 percent of the carbon that would be expended in constructing a new building." Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund and Main Street > bit.ly/3NEaFQ4

As I say periodically: the Manhattan bike network, for all its imperfections, is an order of magnitude better than it was a decade ago – at Manhattan, NY

New study of e-bike rebates finds that the average recipient reduced their CO₂ emissions by 12-44 kg/month. That's roughly equivalent to 30-110 miles/month of driving. Not too shabby! doi.org/10.1016/j.tranpol.20…

#BikeTwitter Examples of left turn bike boxes from a left hand turn lane from a main 2 lane road to a v local road? Bike lane on right of main road. To turn left you need to cross one lane of vehicle traffic. (the local rd is shared one way road, contra flow other way)

This is how our world works: Trucking industry pressures NHTSA not to require side underride guards so @NHTSAgov releases an ANPRM stating cost of side underride guards is higher than the benefit of saving lives and suggested that no requirement needed. propublica.org/article/under…

BREAKING: @NYC_SafeStreets members Amy Cohen and Fabiola Mendieta-Cuapio are starting a hunger strike at 11 a.m. tomorrow until @CarlHeastie holds a vote on Sammy's Law. New Yorkers overwhelmingly want this bill. Albany must stop playing politics with our children's lives.

Favorite part of every Mexico City trip - cycling along a car-free Reforma The city 🚲 keeps it simple - no over-the-top programming, just streets empty of cars 👶 ensures it’s safe for all people, including children 💚 builds a regular cycling culture by doing it EVERY Sunday

To compare the creation of a bus/bike lane, which is the taking of a car lane - space that can only be occupied by cars - to the systematic destruction of Black & Latino communities is an insult to communities who are now disproportionately affected by traffic violence
