Coldcard was NOT an LLM enabled attack, people created seeds with weak entropy and had their weak seeds brute forced. Brute forcing is older attack than bitcoin itself. Don't allow yourself to be gaslit by this narcissist.

What fascinates you about Bitcoin?
Sovereignty, freedom to transact, and money that can operate without permission.
Those properties become meaningful to the individual when they control the keys.
Hold Bitcoin through a custodian and you reintroduce the very thing Bitcoin was designed to minimise: trust in someone else.
Arise Bitcoin exists to help people move from simply owning Bitcoin to understanding and operating self-custody properly.
Bitcoin gives us direct ownership. Self-custody is how we exercise it.

Gold Coast unit prices now plummeting
It’s always been a boom bust market ya know
But some people would prefer to live in disbelief
We call them negative equity enjoyers 👍
Big story in the Oz written by @MackenzieJScott about Gold Coast housing prices falling "at a rate of knots".
They most certainly are falling at a rate of knots. Units now down by over 16% on asking prices. And its been driven by a tidal wave of unit supply (see chart!!!) plus the are spoken for culprits (interest rates, property tax changes).
Comments section going off.

Bitcoin is far more important than AI, orders of magnitude more important. It solves the problem of printing money. There's no more important economic problem to solve. You won't have reliable power or any of its downstream benefits without sound money. No matter the handwaving.

So I went back to poking at hardware wallets again today, I am done after literally an hour.
The BIP 85 support for @BitBoxSwiss just absolutely blew my mind away at how horrible the entire architecture is, and illuminated a huge architectural flaw in the entire device I hadn't considered/realized that just blows my mind.
And there is literally 0 defense for it beyond arguing that users must be treated like retarded an incompetent children.
The entire feature isn't accessible without an external trigger from the software wallet on the host.
WHY!?!??!
The entire feature needs absolutely nothing whatsoever from the host. It sends nothing whatsoever back to the host.
You enter an index on the device, you get shown a derived seed on the device to copy manually, you verify that seed on the device. That's it. That's the entire flow.
Why in the fuck is that incredibly valuable feature gated behind whether or not some software wallet developer implements new code paths to trigger something that doesn't ever directly interact with his software in anyway whatsoever.
Like holy fucking shit. All Bitbox users cannot access this feature without 1) using the Bitbox app and falling into default funnels that suck up your information or 2) developers of numerous other software wallets having to implement new code for no logical reason whatsoever.
The same exact thing applies to the passphrase functionality. It isn't even accessible AT ALL without first flipping a device configuration flag through the software wallet on the host (welcome back to the funnel bleeding you of your information) when the only thing it will do with the host after applying the passphrase to the master key is everything that the software host has to support already by virtue of you using the Bitbox with it in the first place.
Why on Earth are EITHER of these features gated behind a software wallet on a host externally triggering them? It makes zero sense.
It does nothing but create a funnel pushing your users into your software that sucks up their personal information, with the only alternative being numerous other development teams taking the time to write new code they have to maintain for no logical reason.
And yes, I'm sure this applies to numerous other hardware wallets out there that I don't realize/know right now, and I send the exact same degree of what the fuck to all of them as well.

I've received some messages saying that Pi Zero 1.3 can be difficult to source right now. This is just a periodic reminder that the Zero W is an acceptable substitute, especially b/c the @SeedSigner releases don't include the necessary code to operate the WiFi or Bluetooth. You can also optionally physically disable the board's wireless communications capability with very simple tools:

Remember when at the top of the 2021 bull market, Mark Moss advised his audience to never sell their Bitcoin, borrow against it, and live off the loans?
Explicitly recommending BlockFi.
“I like to use BlockFi. They are a United States-based company, so they’re fully regulated, fully transparent, they have big, big backers on Wall Street.”

NVK also dismissed concerns about exfiltration of the seed via non-random nonces.
This is why I suggest not using Coldcard at all *even if you trust the entropy used to derive the seed you loaded into it*.

Every hardware wallet is getting attacked. This points towards big forces that wants to scare people away from self custody.
Our preliminary review of the phishing mail that was sent out to our newsletter subscribers about an hour ago found that it is very likely that our newsletter provider got compromised.
Multiple other Bitcoin companies got targeted as well, and it appears that we all share the same newsletter provider.
We sent out a phishing warning to all our newsletter subscribers, contacted the provider and reported the phishing domains. Most of the phishing links appear to have been taken down already.
We are still actively investigating this situation and will update you once we know more.

In 2024, victims came to us with bitcoin missing from Coldcard wallets. No malware, no phishing. We traced it to weak seed entropy and filed reports with the manufacturer and multiple agencies. Two years later: $38M swept in 25 minutes.

If you ever buy a hardware wallet you should just pretty much assume the whole world, including the dark web and every wrench attacker out there, is going to know who you are, where to spearfish you, and exactly where the device was shipped.

Hello @trezor,
I received a “Critical Security Alert: STM32 Entropy Vulnerability” email today (9 Sep 2026).
Gmail shows From: Trezor Security , Return-Path [email protected], Sendinblue campaign, DKIM/SPF/DMARC pass for trezor.io.
Body claims a factory STM32 RNG defect (~1 in 4 devices), ~40-bit seeds, and a “check if you’re affected” link via r.mailing.trezor.io plus xPub verification.
This matches the entropy-phishing wave, not any official advisory.
Please confirm whether mailing.trezor.io / Brevo was abused and take the campaign down.
