A Trial or a Punishment? Addressing how one can understand difficulties and hardships in light of one’s faith and trust in Allah, Beloved Huzoor (aba) said: “If difficulties befall a believer, they are not a punishment for him. Punishment occurs when he has no faith in Allah and does not place his trust in Him. ‘Such a person does suffer severe torment (who has no faith). If someone fancies that he would not face death, then this notion is false because Allah Almighty has declared this world to be impermanent. For such a person, there will be a very painful hell in the next world for which he should be prepared.’ Thus, this also provides a general answer to those who ask how we can know whether a difficulty or hardship is a punishment or a trial from Allah.” ▶️ Stream the full Friday Sermon now on the MTAi App, via mta.tv, or via youtube.com/mtaonline. The minimalist lifestyle is currently becoming a global trend. However, long before minimalism became a modern trend, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (sa) was a person worthy of the title “true minimalist.” He had already taught and adopted minimalism as a way of life. In Islam, several concepts of simple living were taught long ago, such as zuhd, detaching oneself from worldly attachments; qana‘at, feeling content and grateful for whatever sustenance Allah provides; iqtisad, a balanced lifestyle – neither stingy nor wasteful; and anti-tabzir, avoiding excess. From the very beginning, he consciously chose to live life as a “traveller”, i.e. someone who does not hold onto material things. “O Allah, provide the family of Muhammad with a simple [sufficient] sustenance.” He did not desire abundant or luxurious wealth; he only wanted what was sufficient. This shows that for him, simplicity was enough. A simple life brought him happiness. It also freed him from unproductive time that might otherwise be spent thinking about possessions. Objects do not just take up space in a house; they also occupy the owner’s attention and mind to manage or use them. This demonstrates his complete lack of attachment to material and worldly things. He gave so easily that even when he possessed only one garment – the one he was wearing – if a child asked for it, he would give it without a second thought. The Prophet’s (sa) time was used very effectively because there were few items in his house and few clothes in his possession. Consequently, he had more time for worship, preaching and educating his people. He lived simply purely by choice, because he wanted to live minimally and felt completely fulfilled: “Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller.” A simple life and a minimalist lifestyle open up many new perspectives on happiness, freedom and gratitude. Living simply is a path not only to self-discovery but also to self-improvement – becoming a better person day by day. It is no wonder that Prophet Muhammad (sa) could remain so happy, even though his life was exceptionally simple.

The days following Jalsa, in the blessed presence of Khilafat. In Islamabad, beloved Huzoor (aba) graciously met with guests and members of the Jama’at from around the world — generations united by their love for Khilafat. Beautiful moments in the shade of Khilafat, reflecting the unique bond of love between the Khalifa and members of the Jama’at. ✨ #MTAi #JalsaUK2026 #Khilafat #Ahmadiyya

Reporters covering this horrific anti-Muslim attack: Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA is available to provide Muslim perspectives and comment on religious freedom, Islamophobia and hate crimes. Please DM us or email [email protected].
A Muslim man in Utah was reportedly stabbed more than 15 times after an attacker allegedly targeted him because of his faith. While the investigation is still underway, authorities say the suspect told police he intended to kill Muslims. We pray for the victim’s full recovery and for comfort and strength for his loved ones. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA unequivocally condemns this horrific act of anti-Muslim violence. No one should fear for their life because of how they worship—or whether they worship at all. Religious freedom belongs equally to Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, atheists and every American. An attack on one community’s right to live and worship in peace is an attack on the freedoms that protect us all. Hate does not emerge in a vacuum. When prejudice is normalized, when entire communities are vilified and when anti-Muslim rhetoric is tolerated, violence becomes more likely. We must reject bigotry in all its forms before it escalates into tragedy. Our prayers are with the victim, and we urge leaders of every faith and political persuasion to speak clearly and consistently against hatred and violence.
