Tonight, Tom Joyce be joining retired NYPD Inspector Ron Leyson during the second hour of Executive Perspective on the @Finest Unfiltered YouTube channel. The shows starts at 5pm and I will join at 6pm ET.
We’re going deep on license plate reader technology and vehicle location intelligence, but this is not going to be a simple “for it or against it” conversation.
There are a lot more lanes than that.
We’ll talk about the extraordinary investigative and public-safety capabilities of modern LPR, artificial intelligence and vehicle analytics, but we’ll also dig into privacy, government affairs, pending legislation, recent court decisions, the Fourth Amendment, Supreme Court location cases, and where constitutional law may be heading as these technologies become more powerful.
Ron brings the perspective of a former NYPD Inspector and commanding officer. I’ll come at it as a former detective commander who actually used LPR operationally and later worked in the public-safety technology space.
The technology has changed dramatically. The law is evolving. Legislatures are paying attention. And there are legitimate arguments on every side of this issue.
Join us live tonight for the second hour of Executive Perspective. Get into the chat and be part of the conversation.
If you can’t make it live, catch it on the rebound on the Finest Unfiltered YouTube channel.

On Wednesday, we welcome back Ret Lieutenant and the host of the Ten Four Tavern, Tom Joyce. Tom joins Ron to discuss the highly debated topic of License Plate Recognition (LPR). They’ll explore the capabilities and potential liabilities of this technology. Will a recent federal court decision restrict its use by law enforcement? And when does the use of LPR infringe on your Fourth Amendment rights? Tune in to hear from Tom, an expert in this field, as they break down the complexities of LPR.

When the police are criticized for using deadly physical force against an assailant who is “only armed with a knife”, please remember these victims who were only attacked by a knife.
Deadly physical force must be met with deadly physical force. Not a taser.
Not a baton or asp.
Not physical force.

Where is your support for NYPD Police Officer Omar Habib, who is currently sitting in Rikers island for the crime of responding to a 911 call and attempting to arrest a violently resisting suspect ?
The suspect was uninjured during the encounter yet Officer Habib is facing 7 years in prison.
@JakeLang is an insufferable clout chaser provocateur who is thirsty for media attention. He consistently put officers unnecessarily in harms way for his antics.
The leadership of the @MinneapolisPD like @NYPDnews are the political enforcement and propaganda arms of the Democrat party, this isn’t news.
And while we’re at it where the FUCK is your support for officers like myself who were terminated for non compliance with a vaccine mandate when we were already infected?
Do “Blue Lives Really Matter” ?
Fuck Jake Lang
xitter.cf/natpoliceassoc/status/…
As the largest police news outlet in the world, we HATE doing this - but we're CALLING OUT the @MinneapolisPD - and would encourage an investigation by the @TheJusticeDept and @HarmeetKDhillon at @CivilRights!!
Minneapolis PD just labeled Jake Lang a “far-right extremist” in an official ARREST post. That is NOT neutral policing.
Most departments go out of their way to avoid political language. Many agencies and the DOJ have even stopped releasing mugshots to protect the “innocent until proven guilty” standard. Minneapolis did the opposite.
They put the political branding in the first sentence of their public statement while announcing probable cause riot charges after vehicles drove onto the sidewalk near City Hall.
This is the same city run by Mayor Jacob Frey, who has repeatedly sided with progressive and identity-focused policies.
He signed the ordinance allowing the Muslim call to prayer at any hour. His administration has worked to limit federal immigration enforcement on city property.
The previous police chief, Brian O’Hara, spent years cultivating close relationships with the Somali Muslim community, speaking at mosques and elevating officers from that community, before resigning under pressure in 2026 after investigators found he interfered with an internal probe.
When a police department in a left-run city starts using loaded political labels in official charging announcements, it telegraphs the bias.
That kind of language does not strengthen a case. It hands the defense a gift by showing the agency is not operating as a neutral enforcer of the law.
Americans notice when the rules of impartiality only seem to apply in one direction.
Minneapolis PD - get your act together. Crap like this is why good officers are FLEEING that liberal cesspool in droves. Time for a NO CONFIDENCE vote in your leadership.

🚨BREAKING: Derek Chauvin’s attorney seeks dismissal in a new bombshell court filing alleging ‘illegal’ and ‘fraudulent’ conduct by Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.
Chauvin’s attorney, Greg Joseph, argues a grand jury was never convened to review the charges.
“Because Hennepin County’s unlawful charges against Mr. Chauvin were not severe enough for the mob, Walz referred the case to Keith Ellison, who signed and e-filed a second unfounded complaint against Derek Chauvin that included the murder charge.”

Modern police executives in a nutshell--we must turn society into an Orwellian surveillance state so my now diminished police dept can do their job.
Police chief is furious that people are criticizing his decision to deploy Flock cameras in their town.
Argues they should turn the town into a mass surveillance police state so he can do his job.
Shows his true authoritarian nature by saying: "I ought to do background checks on half the people that made comments."

Soft on crime policies didn't create every criminal, but they've created an environment where repeat offenders face fewer consequences and public safety suffers. When accountability disappears, chaos fills the void. New Yorkers deserve leaders who put victims, communities, and the men and women protecting them first not policies that weaken the justice system. #NYC #PublicSafety

After 53 episodes, one full year, and 52 consecutive Tuesdays without missing a single week, we've made the decision to close the Ten-Four Tavern on June 30, 2026.
When we launched the show, our goal was simple. We wanted to bring together law enforcement professionals, military veterans, public servants, leaders, and storytellers to share experiences, lessons learned, and the kinds of conversations that too often get lost with time. Looking back, we can honestly say we've accomplished everything we hoped to accomplish and more.
Over the past year, we've had the privilege of sitting down with an extraordinary group of guests from local, state, and federal law enforcement, the military, journalism, government, and the private sector. They shared stories of service, leadership, sacrifice, perseverance, and purpose. Some made us laugh, some made us think, and some reminded us why these stories matter.
What we'll remember most are the relationships. The people we've met, the friendships we've built, and the countless conversations that continued long after the cameras stopped rolling.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to John Macari, Eric Dym, Marlon Bethel, Rob Lukash, Ron Leyson, and the entire Finest Unfiltered and Executive Perspective family. From day one, they welcomed us, supported us, and gave us every opportunity to succeed. Their professionalism, friendship, and generosity never went unnoticed, and we will always be grateful for their support.
We also want to thank everyone behind the scenes whose hard work made each episode possible, often without recognition and always without complaint.
To our guests, thank you for trusting us with your stories.
To our viewers, thank you for spending your Tuesday evenings with us, supporting the show, sharing the episodes, and becoming part of the Ten-Four Tavern community.
The final two guest episodes will feature two outstanding NYPD veterans: Deputy Inspector Joe Del Duca, former Commanding Officer of the District Attorney Squad, and Detective First Grade Jim Normile of Brooklyn South Homicide.
On June 30th, Pete and I will pull up our stools one final time, look back on an unforgettable year, revisit some of our favorite moments, and raise one last glass with all of you.
Ten-Four Tavern was never only about ratings, downloads, or numbers.
It was about stories.
It was about friendship.
It was about preserving experiences and lessons that deserve to be remembered.
Most of all, it was about bringing good people together for honest conversations.
For that, we couldn't be more proud or more grateful.
Stories served straight up….sometimes with a twist!
Stories that needed to be told, by the people that needed to tell them!
We'll see you at the Tavern one last time.

At 10 years old, Gavin Tarsio, son of NYPD Sergeant Joe Tarsio (now retired), of the Financial Crimes Task Force, was diagnosed with what he was told was an inoperable brain tumor. Never giving up, the Tarsio’s found a doctor at St Judes willing to operate and save Gavins life. Unfortunately, his tumor has began to grow again is currently undergoing treatment back at St Judes. In order to give back, Gavin is raising money for St Judes so that other families can benefit from their loving care. Please see his link, read his story, in his own words, and contribute what you can to St Judes.
