I'm fundraising for the Tor Project as well as three different nonprofit Tor relay operators: Emerald Onion, Triplebit, and Unredacted ❤️🔥
And, I'm matching all donations up to $3000! 🤑 Which means if you donate...
- 50% of your donation will go to @torproject,
- 50% to @EmeraldOnion,
- 50% to @TriplebitNET, and
- 50% to @unredacted_org
= 200% donations! 😎🎉
Why donate?
The Tor network is an invaluable tool for journalists, activists, vulnerable individuals, and everyday privacy seekers looking to bypass censorship and avoid tracking on the internet.
While the Tor Project itself develops the software and operates valuable infrastructure, its privacy-preserving network relies on a huge network of independent, community volunteer-run relay servers to carry that traffic.
Unredacted, Emerald Onion, and Triplebit are three organizations among many who are operating high-capacity privacy-focused infrastructure for the public good.
All three projects run their own hardware and own their own IP addresses and networks, which is a significant expense over VPS hosting in the name of improved privacy, and requires extraordinary support from their donors to continue operating 😊

FCC bans import of new consumer routers made overseas, citing security risks techcrunch.com/2026/03/24/fc…

Is this a ploy to get everyone to use cell phones that are more easily tracked? theverge.com/news/899172/fcc…
Once again, like “stopping terrorists” or “protecting children,” this is another attack on the American people in the name of “security.” When will we stop accepting “security” as an excuse?
They are only banning “consumer routers.” I wonder how they differentiate. Is Ubiquiti consumer grade? Are we going to see an explosion in “small business routers”?
Little text that says “not for residential use” like how people are buying peptides/drugs online that are “not for human consumption” these days?

A VPN ban doesn’t mean that they’re going to lock up every single person who uses a VPN or watches porn.
Your government’s strategy is to make “crimes” like this as common and easy to commit as possible.
This way, if you ever do something completely legal which they *actually* don’t like, *which can be completely unrelated to VPNs or bypassing age verification,* they can pull up your internet history and easily prosecute you.
Organize a legitimate protest, and the government’s swift response will be to label you a child sex offender because they found you using evil VPN technology.
This is how free speech dies, not from a law that says “free speech is dead now,” but from draconian, authoritarian laws like this that give the government “plausible” reasons to go after anyone, which can’t easily be fought against.
💯 this, and I’m once again begging libertarian-type tech people to understand that a “VPN ban” or Chat Control doesn’t mean they’re going to prevent you specifically from using a VPN or an encrypted messenger.
It means when they catch you doing so, they’ll use that fact itself as a pretense to lock you up without needing to do any “hard work” like actually confirming whether you committed a real crime.
Don’t think you won’t be impacted just because you know how to outsmart an ISP filter!

First up! Our top tip for everyone starting to care about being tracked online is to install a content blocking extension in their browser, and the best choice is uBlock Origin.
Advertisements aren’t just annoying, they are one of the most prevalent attack vectors on the internet. Minimizing the amount of content you are downloading and running makes you much safer, and it speeds up your browsing at the same time! 😄

If Section 230 is repealed like the Democrats and Republicans in D.C. want, we would basically get this, but on every social media site, and none of them would be allowed to fix it.

If you’re thinking that surely your representatives or your “side” are fighting for your rights here, you're probably wrong!
KOSA, the App Store Accountability Act, the SCREEN Act, and the efforts to repeal Section 230 are bipartisan efforts to undermine our civil liberties on a massive scale.
Don't let politicians, social media, and the mainstream media fool you: Your voice can make a difference, and has already stopped KOSA and similar bills from being passed for many years now.
They are counting on you giving up, don't give in!
Last week in the United States of America, Congress began fast-tracking nearly 20 bills in a massive effort to enact massive censorship on the internet, decimate your ability to use computers privately, and severely restrict free speech online.
Discussing Bad Internet Bills with Taylor Lorenz (KOSA, et al.)
Privacy Guides sits down with technology journalist Taylor Lorenz to decipher a slate of bills being fast-tracked through Congress which directly threaten your free speech and privacy.

The Internet enables a global exchange of information, opinions and ideas. Let’s keep it that way and ensure that the USA remains a haven for a free Internet. 🗽
Call your representatives, take action and sign the petition to stop Bad Internet Bills from killing the Internet. 🚨

Congress wants to hand the government massive censorship powers, and pretend they’re standing up to Big Tech while consolidating even more power among existing tech corporations.
Online ID checks through KOSA and the SCREEN Act will enable a nanny state and eliminate parental rights, and the elimination of Section 230 will decimate free speech on the internet.
This CANNOT stand 🚨 Take action at badinternetbills.com

We've finished setting up our new PoP in Kansas City! ⚡️
Our plan is to host many of our high-bandwidth services that don't require power or network redundancy there. Our new deployment contains Tor relays operating on our GreenWare hardware, and our NoiseNet network!
