I think that I might have a neat idea for something at a #Ruby / #Rails #conference that people might talk about. To do that I'd need someone to #sponsor this. So please share this so that folks who might want have visibility at a Ruby/Rails #conf see this. #followerpower

Rails 8 brings some cool new security related changes and I will also sum up why I think Rails is one of the best options for an application with high security requirements.
In his #RailsWorld talk, @GregMolnar will highlight the recent security-related improvements in Rails and highlight why Rails is one of the best options for an application with high security standards. rubyonrails.org/world/2024/d…

Q for the crowd: I have built a powerful and flexible Rails application template script for #SQLiteOnRails apps. It can scaffold new apps or upgrade existing apps. It works with Rails 7 and 8. It is controllable and customizable. I’m thinking of paywalling it for GitHub sponsors.

I will have some capacity for Rails work soon, my DMs are open and retweets are appreciated for reach. More details: My ideal setup would be a part-time position(2 days a week) with flexibility of shifting those 2 days and be available 4 days on some weeks and be away for a whole week about once a month, because when I do a pentest, it takes usually 5 days. Alternatively I would be also open to short-term full-time contracts up to 1 month or fixed scope work that wouldn't take longer than that. I consider myself a full-stack developer and I can handle backend and frontend, and I can take a project from a design to reality. I also have a lot of experience with performance optimization and security. I don't have much recent experience with React, so if you need someone who can hit the ground running with a React frontend, I am not your best option.

I would love to find out what folks use for file uploads in Rails apps. Would you mind sharing it with me? Retweets for reach are appreciated.

In this Generative AI wave, there's a lot of speculation about which tasks AI will be good for. I think there's one pattern that distinguishes tasks that are "practically useful" for AI to complete from ones that are not. I call it "hard to explain, easy to verify". 1/n

Does anyone know a good course teaching how to _design_ your own models for 3D printing? Not general 3D modeling but specific to building of tools, enclosures etc. RT for reach very much appreciated 🤗

I'd like to publish a tiny JS package and do minimal bikeshedding. Does anyone know of a template of sorts that allows me to - bundle into various formats (microbundle?) - has prebuilt scripts for building, releasing etc. - has a decent eslint/prettier/... config please?

This is the most pragmatic advice I've seen yet on using ViewComponent. "Don’t use VC for anything that translates to a RESTful resource, never use it instead of model partials (it’s detrimental to readability), use it for anything that accumulates helpers." @julian_rubisch

It's happening. @UnderdogDevs will be providing stipends to a select group of mentees so that they dont have to work while they learn software development. If any of you know of a bootcamp that would like to work with us and support our mission have them reach out.
