How private schooling feeds back into educational preferences?
The Legitimacy of Private Schooling: Education Preferences in Nine European Contexts tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…
And last but not least, we had Estonia among our nine case countries, a region often neglected in politics of education research until now. 😊
Thanks for our supporters and colleagues in helping with data and for very helpful and constructive feedback! Special thanks to @EXCInequality and super vibrant group of @mariusbusemeyer, colleagues at @rasi_iiss and #ISCRC2022
And also I've got mail ... :) Happy to join the list of wonderful #WoPSI colleagues to report that i recieved my copy of Volume II. What a journey and great team to work with! Special thanks for our brilliant editorial team @SiljaHausermann @garritzmannj @BPalier
I, together with Anu Toots (twitterless but active blogger sharpminder.com/), have a chapter on how nation rebuilding has shaped the route to social investment in Baltic Europe, sometimes facilitating and sometimes hindering it.
My second tweet. Can you see an improvement (hashtags, pics, less words)! :)
Me and Kaire were presenting on Fri at #ISCRC2022 in #Dublin. We were interested to see who loves private education and parental choice and whether Robin Hood has anything to do with it.
We relied on INVEDUC (8 western countries + EE) to show that yes, higher educated are less pro-private/pro-choice in schooling. Also, the higher the share of private education and inequality in a country, the more pro-private/pro-choice people are.
Got good feedback and hope to run some additional analysis and write it up into a paper soon! Thanks a lot, #ISCRC2022 crew and #Dublin! Another good presentation also from #TaylorsThreeRock crew :)
Here we go, my first ever tweet: :)
Happy to share our paper about “free” higher education reform in Estonia.
The Paradox of State-Funded Higher Education: Does the Winner Still Take It All? mdpi.com/1405840 #mdpieducation via @EducSci_MDPI
Why no improvement in terms of access? We speculate that partly because of low support, i.e. in the ‘low tuition-low support’ world of student finance (Garritzmann 2016), where “free” is conditioned and support is scarce and/or merit based, access is still restricted.
