Since last night, the youth of #Togo have risen in defiance against the dictatorial regime of @FEGnassingbe. After two decades in power, Faure Gnassingbé scrapped presidential elections from the constitution to secure a lifetime grip on power, following in the footsteps of his father, Eyadéma Gnassingbé, who ruled #Togo with violence and fear for 38 years. Despite a protest ban imposed since 2018, Togolese youths are pushing back. They are resisting through protests erecting barricades across roads to block police trucks and slow down the regime’s repressive machinery.
