🚨 #BREAKING: MPP @tylerwatt just exposed the real reason Doug Ford gutted OSAP. Introducing Doug Ford's $1B OSAP scandal: How Ford let one-fifth of Ontario's student grants go to just SEVEN private career colleges, ignored years of warnings, then cut grants for EVERY student. We've asked the Auditor General for a full audit. #onpoli

So France's national government allows its largest city to do this? Don't they want Paris to be more like Toronto?

Mark Carney just fast-tracked a new oil pipeline to the West Coast as Canada’s first “project of national interest,” one day after saying “we owe them action” on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. First Nations from the oil sands to the coast are responding. Some reject it outright and are preparing for court. Others are open to development but say they were not properly consulted, and that an ownership stake is not consent. Even chiefs who left their meeting with Carney encouraged say they will hold him to his promises. The message across Treaty 8 and B.C. is the same: nothing gets built on our lands without us. A trade war is no excuse to override Indigenous rights. New on Indigenous Insider: indigenousinsider.substack.c…

“Why did the Ministry of Health pay $2.09 million dollar to McKinsey, the American consulting firm that charges hefty fees to tell executives how to cut costs, often at the workers’ expense?” asked interim Liberal leader John Fraser. #onpoli @JohnFraserOS

I'm a driver and ER doc. Premier Ford's removal of bike lanes won't ease congestion. Bike lanes don't impede ambulances. Biking is good for your health. Premier Ford wins this culture war but will own the injuries and deaths. thestar.com/news/gta/health-…

Brad's house-of-cards debt scheme doesn't stand up to scrutiny. He'll say anything. Janice Baker, former city manger in Mississauga and CAO of Peel Region, has some questions 👇👇

We've released the results of our transit policy survey! We asked all mayoral & council candidates about their commitments to improving transit. Of the leading mayoral candidates, only Olivia Chow completed our survey; Chris Alexander made a platform commitment to hike fares

Doug Ford dreams of being Toronto's mayor, and he's doing a pretty good job of running the city into the ground.
#ONpoli #TOpoli Krista Ford rants about Olivia Chow “running the city into the ground” with zero mention of her father Doug Ford being the one who actually made most of the biggest decisions for the city…

Could we please stop framing climate action as a left/right issue. It’s just a big issue that all politicians need to grapple with. Both a massive cost/risk & huge economic opportunity with clean energy transition (with big risk of stranded fossil fuel assets).

Thrilled that both Chow and Alexander correctly said tonight that RapidTO lanes have reduced delays. Bradford on the other hand is skeptical. Says lanes could be good where needed. Like Dufferin? The street identified as the top priority by the city? The one he voted against?
Replying to @GraphicMatt
The RapidTO lanes for Dufferin Street south of Bloor are APPROVED by Toronto Council 20-3.

Raise taxes or cut services? Those are the choices Doug Ford is forcing on small towns in Ontario. Greens are calling for a new deal for municipalities, one that increases funding while maintaining local control.

The Ford government is preparing to make deep cuts to Ontario’s public health care system. The Health Minister is warning of a coming “fiscal cliff.” Thousands of nurses and health care workers are already being laid off. And now we’ve learned the government spent $2.1 million on McKinsey & Company to look for health care "savings". This government has spent years expanding privatization. Now the warning signs of what could come next are impossible to ignore. #onpoli

A restored river valley deserves its most famous engineers. This week, the Lassonde Art Trail culminatesits launch season with the unveiling of The Colony (2026) by acclaimed Cree artist Kent Monkman at Biidaasige Park. The Colony is a playful reminder of the animals that have helped shape ecosystems across Turtle Island. Through the Port Lands Flood Protection project, made possible by a $1.4 billion investment from the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario (@ONgov), and the City of Toronto (@cityoftoronto), former industrial lands have been transformed into a new river valley, thriving habitat, and world-class public spaces. The Colony builds on that vision, demonstrating how art can enrich public spaces while creating new opportunities for people to connect with nature, water, and the histories that have shaped this place for generations.

NAOMI KLIEIN to SAM ALTMAN: "...you ingested the entire written output of human civilization without consent, without compensation and without credit to build a system whose primary commercial application is eliminating the jobs of the people whose work you consumed. Mayor Chow’s response to inheriting a $1.8 billion operating budget deficit upon taking office was not to simply cut services. Instead, her administration has advanced affordable housing, public transit, community safety and infrastructure renewal projects while investing in the City’s internal capacity and protecting public services.    Her new deal with the province has secured structural changes to the City’s financial position, creating the room needed to properly fund and maintain municipal services and infrastructure while improving Toronto’s credit rating.   Toronto Civic Employees Union CUPE Local 416 is proud to endorse Mayor Olivia Chow for re-election on October 26.  We encourage all residents of the City of Toronto to join us in helping make Toronto a cleaner, safer, more caring and connected city.     #StrongerTogether
