It helps everyone in power in this country to have no local media.
After the mosque shooting in quebec city, the local café became an international news centre, just as an example.

6 of the 10 projected winning candidates took the full @vote_palestine pledge and dominated the vote counts for Vancouver city council. Every candidate from the major parties who took the full pledge was elected. Every ABC councillor declined the pledge. The tide of public opinion on the genocide occurring in Gaza is turning. #vanpoli #vanelxn26

Newly-elected Vancouver city councillor Solomon Yi-Kieran reflects on their victory:
“I’m so happy and so honoured that people believed in me … More than anything I’m just really moved to see an actual grassroots movement achieve something like this.”

Brad was on council for 8 years, and this nepo baby's support tells you everything you need to know. Brad is not here for the average Torontonian. He's here for the rich.
The “ick”. This is what it has come to. The single most ephemeral, amorphous, nonsensical pushback to someone trying to turn the ship away from the iceberg I have yet seen in this campaign.
Sure.
Vote @BradMBradford.. A vote for Olivia Chow would be a vote for Toronto headed towards a future that is cataclysm… ick.

Wild to watch these alleged fiscal conservatives campaign for a guy with absolutely no fiscal plan
As they did for Rob Ford. As they did for Doug Ford. As they do for Lorne Doerkson
Then they pivot to “culture” to explain why our services decline and society frays

8 years of @BradMBradford & all I got was a rusted balcony guard at 500 Dawes.
I recall the discussions I had with Bradford about 500 Dawes. He had no interest in utilizing the City's remedial action powers & spoke highly of the 20k in fines the City imposed at that time.
The guy who runs integrity TO is Daniel Tate and he’s running for city councillor. He spends his time smearing people with dumb takes like this. The guy doesn’t know what or how cooperative housing even works and he wants to be on city council lmao!!!! Dude is desperate
That time Olivia Chow made six figures and still lived in subsidized housing 🤔
Throwback to that time school board trustee Olivia Chow and her husband made the equivalent of $230,000 and still squatted in government subsidized affordable housing. Was this unethical? (1990)

This is police culture. Vicious poor bashing is central to their function. They need to be out of our communities.

Straight up authoritarianism and over bike lanes!! The same ways they closed supervised consumption sites and now more people are using outside. This goverment doesn’t care about people’s safety or safety. They have amassed power and are doing what they want
The hundreds of Toronto Police that have been deployed to ensure #bikelane removal goes ahead in the face of strong opposition provides a clear indication of who gets served and protected in this society.

So appreciative of the hyper-local reporting this election from @TheLocal_TO. Living in a riding with one of the city's most affluent communities alongside under-served, poorer and more diverse neighbourhoods means having to work twice as hard to be heard

its so awesome how toronto is unable to do anything to improve itself because theres a legion of suburbanite hitlers who come to the city twice a year getting mad at everything the city does that doesn’t cater to them
