๐ Good Job, Topeka! ๐
Topeka Police Department Officers conducted a school bus stop-arm enforcement operation this beautiful October morning, watching for drivers who fail to stop for school buses with their stop arms extended. ๐
The results? Zero violations. ๐
We don't get to say this very often after an enforcement operation, but we're perfectly happy writing ZERO tickets for this one!
Thank you, Topeka, for paying attention, stopping for school buses, and helping keep our kids safe.
We will continue conducting these types of enforcement operations throughout the school year, so let's see if we can make zero violations a trend. ๐

This summer, the Topeka Joint Emergency Task Force tested response times, coordination, and identified training gaps to ensure our first responders are ready to help neighbors in Shawnee County and beyond. On June 28, 2026, six emergency response agencies participated in a full-scale, real-world simulation of a mass casualty incident at West Ridge Mall.
Without any prior knowledge of the scenario, first responders were challenged to manage an evolving threat, secure a large facility, assess and evacuate the injured, and coordinate medical transport under realistic conditions. The exercise allowed law enforcement, fire crews, dispatch, and medical responders to stress test their training and work together in ways that everyday operations donโt always allow.
Thank you to all of our partners and civilian volunteers!
