'Speed' derives from the Old English 'spēd,' which referred to good fortune/success. This sense of 'speed' lives on in 'Godspeed': "God spede you" = "God prosper you" We hope this brings you up to speed.

I'm so glad these guys are cooking. But statistically, the cooking gap is growing, and globally, men are actually doing less cooking than they were even a few years ago. (Except in Italy.) npr.org/sections/health-shot…
I wrote a story about how basically every man I know in my station of life — millennial, in a long term relationship, in possession of a fake email job — does all the cooking in their relationship, which is something I have a lot of theories about.

Putting on my #language nerd hat for a sec: origin of the term "slide into my DMS"--"sent me a DM" conveys the message just as well. But the furtive connotation of the verb slide. Plus think of the gender aspect of this: do women "slide" into men's DMs.
