In Which Order Should You Pick Curses? Well, it looks like we're in for more crazy curses for finish off this Endless season in @GuildOfGuardian Thankfully, the team did away with the Shield and Inhibition curses - making the gameplay feeling a little less hopeless. There are still some nasty curses left, however. In this post, I want to cover the order in which I select runes in Endless to help you figure things out if your just starting out with the game. 1. GRAVEYARD Graveyard restores 15% of the enemy squad's health whenever one of your Guardians die. Since Guardians rarely die in Endless until it's hard to do anything about it, this is an easy curse to choose first. 2. SKELETAL SCREECH Skeletal Screech gives your enemies physical damage resistance and a small bonus to their magic damage when their health dips below 35%. I try to end fights as quickly as possible with high-damage dealers like Lia and Dersida, so most enemies don't live long enough to benefit from this curse. 3. MADNESS I like to pick the Madness curse early on for the same reason. Yes, it doubles the enemy's energy recovery rate, but that only becomes a problem when enemies are strong enough to survive Lia's ult. The end is usual near at that point anyway. 4. BONE SHIELD Bone Shield stacks another 25% of HP to the enemy's shield. This curse used to be more of a factor when it stacked on top of the Shield curse. On it's own, it's not that difficult to deal with. Your main damage dealers should be able to keep up if you're picking their runes. 5. STRIKE Having enemy rangers one-shot your back row Guardians is already problematic deep in Endless...and strike makes it all the more likely by increasing their crit chance. You can choose strike up to three times. Level 1 gives the enemy a 50% bonus to crit chance, up to a 70% bonus at level 3. Don't get me wrong, this curse sucks...but my squad is so dependent on its ults that picking one or two rounds of Strike is the lesser evil. 6. BARREN The Barren curse prevents you from amassing dungeon coins for the rest of your Endless run - including those you receive from foraging at camps. I used to choose this one first before the team added the feature to skip curses. Now, I try to delay choosing this one until I'm able to skip 4 times (@ 1,000K dungeon coins) so that I can put off the next three curses for as long as possible. 7. FRAGMENTED ARMOR Fragmented Armor drains a Guardian's energy bar whenever they receive a critical hit. I get noticeably worse results when I pick this curse early. Even without Strike, Fragmented Armor prevents Takati and Prielle - my front liners - from using their ults. That usually leads to them dying early. Players with squads that are optimized for crazy curses (i.e. that perform well using only active skills) should have no problems choosing this one early. 8. BONE SPURS If, like me, you rely on physical damage to win fights, this curse is your worst nightmare. It reflects 50% of all physical damage, so Guardians like Atticus or Dersida usually won't last more than a fight or two after you pick it up. On the other hand, it also makes the enemy take 25% more magic damage. If you run an all magic squad, considering picking this one up early! 9. EXHAUSTION It's awesome that the team removed Inhibition...but Exhaustion is just as bad if you ask me. It resets your Guardian's energy bars to 0 every fight. If you don't have Tieroc, Aloria or Oxellus with the Chromatic Shift enhancement, it will take you upwards of 12 seconds to charge your ults. Most of my Guardians die before hand, so choosing this curse usually means the end of my run. KNOW YOUR BUILD As you can see, the order in which you choose runes is specific to your build. I still play a burst squad using with Takati, Prielle, Lia, Dersida and Flix. If your tactic is similar to mine, the you'll probably do best choosing curses in the same order as me. That said, you can optimize for crazy curses by loading up on magic users and Guardians who don't need their ults to be good. ☠️ROOM EFFECTS TO AVOID IN REQUIEM ☠️ Requiem isn’t as hard as Deadlands (imo), but it brings some nasty room effects of its own. Here’s a list of the ones you should and shouldn’t choose! DO CHOOSE ✅Concealment: This effect immobilizes the enemy for 5 seconds. Perfect for your squad to recharge their ults and heal up before the fighting resumes ✅Sacrificial Skull: Summons an extra enemy archer... You don’t even have to kill it to end the fight! ✅Ice Demon: Summons an ice wolf instead of an archer…same difference! AVOID IF YOU CAN ❌Curse: We’re not sure how, but my OCE colleagues and I agree this is one to avoid at all costs. It makes the last enemy close to invincible by stacking damage resistance and it will cut your run short. ❌Spiteful Poison: As far as I can tell, true damage ignores defense. Whether that’s accurate or not, you’ll notice your enemies hitting harder if you choose this one ❌Wrath + Spite or Internal Injuries: This combination guarantees critical hits from all your enemies' attacks. If you have to choose it, end the fight as quickly as you can!
