My co-worker @TimmyCarbone deployed an astro website the day after the #AstroTogether meetup. I wonder what convinced him. Is it the drinks or the tech? Both of course.

This wave of ML advances feels different than all others before it. Usually, lots of people sleep on it or just pay lip service to ML.
This time, people are rushing to ship ML products, and successfully doing so at breakneck speed.

I wrote up a detailed guide to some of the absolutely wild examples of Bing's new AI-assisted search feature that have started to circulate:
Bing: "I will not harm you unless you harm me first" (that's genuinely something it said to someone)

WTF Google?
Great read on AI progress and ethics in Big Tech.
ChatGPT isn't a technological revolution in itself but by unleashing it to the public, OpenAI signals to Big Tech like Google and Meta that it's time. Time to take the next leap.

Discovered this model used by Hassan around noon. Messaged @TimmyCarbone on the @unsplash slack. 2 hours later it's live on unsplash.com replacing Azure's text to image model
I built an image to text API!
It takes in an image and outputs a one sentence description of it using machine learning.
Very useful for tasks like generating meaningful alt tags for images. Try it out today – it's open source!

One side effect of being a data engineer is that you have trivia like "number of seconds in a day" memorized.
In 10 years, I'll tell my children that if I'm here with them, it's because I survived Redshift long enough to see it implement some kind of actual UNNEST mechanism.
To living another day! 🍾

People saying don’t use deep learning when logistic regression works aren’t nearly going far enough... 90% of it should be at most a SQL query and a scatter plot, look at it and pick a cutoff or whatever, then move on to the next problem.

I’ve dedicated most of my 20’s to getting this humble side project to where it is today.
And none of this would be possible without some of the smartest people that I’m proud to call my team mates.
Onwards 👏
