I’ve been feeling pretty nervous about this blog post coming out
It took me months to put words to what I had to go through in grad school and this final draft still only represents a fraction of it
But I hope it's useful to anyone who’s going through something similar
New blog: Harm masquerading as help: Isolation, Abuse and Crisis in Grad School by Tina Lasisi (@TinaLasisi)

Replying to @TimWebster17 @uutah_anthro
And a reminder that in Utah you can do this in the morning and still make your lunch meeting (virtually and eventually in-person)

Dear colleagues in academia, if you’re frustrated about ongoing shutdowns and productivity loss in your lab this year (and next year), do me a favor: write it all down. Then look at these notes every time you review a grant or tenure case for a junior colleague for the next 3 yrs

Incoming PhD students: joining a new PI's lab as their first graduate student could be one of your best career choices. Lots of 1:1 mentoring, seeing how a lab is built first hand, tons of other advantages. The opposite of a red flag.

A shoutout to join this wonderful journal club on Evolutionary Genetics (Humans/Primates) organised by @TimWebster17 and @alanrrogers. Had the pleasure with @kwangwangk yesterday to present our African aDNA paper. Great questions and atmosphere!
In case anyone missed our original announcements, @alanrrogers and I are hosting a journal club on the evolutionary genetics of humans and other primates. Meetings are on Mondays (via Zoom) and open to anyone who's interested. More info here: content.csbs.utah.edu/~roger… (1/2)

At the start of the 2008 field season at El Parque El Piñalito in the Misiones province in NE Argentina, Ilaria Agostini knew something was terribly wrong. She knows El Piñalito's two howler monkey species—brown and black & gold howlers—better than anyone in the world. (thread)
