On this day in 1805, the British fleet under Lord Nelson demolished the Franco-Spanish fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar.
The victory secured British dominance of the high seas - a dominance that would last over a century - but the cost of victory was heavy as we lost our greatest hero...
Nelson was mortally wounded during the battle after being shot by a French marksman.
He expected every man to do his duty, and by God, he did his.

I wouldn't want to mislead anyone...

BREAKING: Billionaire Sir Richard Branson unleashes a SCORCHING attack on Trump and his disgusting cozying up to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that gets under Trump's skin...
"I thought I’d never have to say this in my lifetime, but this is 2026, and sadly nothing is what it used to be," Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, wrote on LinkedIn. "The Trump administration has become an appeaser to autocrats and dictators, putting their personal whims before the best interests of the American people and those of the free world. What is it about Putin that President Trump fawns over?"
"How will America’s allies ever be able to trust this administration again when they are now turning against them at a time of war and suffering?" he asked.
Trump has repeatedly betrayed our Ukrainian allies in recent days. First, he announced a stunning deal with Putin to allow millions of barrels of diesel into the global markets, a move that will directly pump money into the Russian war machine. Then, he began a concerted smear campaign against President Zelenskyy and said that Putin is easier to deal with.
The backstabbing escalated when Washington failed to provide its usual early warning to Kyiv of an incoming Russian ballistic missile attack. Now, it appears that the White House ordered a temporary disruption of Starshield, a military version of Elon Musk's Starlink that the Ukrainian armed forces rely upon.
"The slowdown of Starlink/Starshield and the inexplicable lack of advance warning of Russian missile launches have already caused Ukrainian civilians to die unnecessarily," wrote Branson. "How much worse can it get?"
"If one thing is clear it’s that European leaders must overcome the initial shock about Trump’s recent actions and step up to the plate. It’s as much about Europe’s freedom as it is about Ukraine’s sovereignty. Both are worth fighting for," he continued. "All options should be on the table now, from the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine to the delivery of advanced weapons systems such as Germany’s Taurus."
"Why oh why is this happening? We cannot let the free world be dismantled before our very eyes," Branson concluded.
We couldn't agree more. Trump is an enemy to Ukraine, an enemy to democracy, and an enemy to the American people. When Democrats retake power, we have our work cut out for us. Every last trace of this monstrous man's legacy must be erased.
Please ❤️ and share if you think that Trump is Putin's puppet!

This is the level that your President has sunk your nation to.
In the UK 🇬🇧a man with some serious problems is killed by a Tiger in a Zoo.
Trump’ s response is to Post a sick AI video of him chasing and cuddling a Tiger.
As a nation you should be ashamed.

Whether you’re woke or MAGA, Christian or atheist, red or blue, surely everyone can agree that the leader of the free world responding to the horrific death of a vulnerable young man in a tiger enclosure by sharing footage of his terrible fate, and then posting an AI-generated version of the encounter portraying himself as capable of surviving it, is sick, deranged and profoundly disturbing.
Whatever that AI video was supposed to demonstrate, it was an appalling display of narcissism and a complete absence of basic human decency.
And it shames America. It shames the country’s reputation, and it shames the people who put this man in the White House.
This isn’t about being left-wing or right-wing. Millions of Americans voted for Trump because they are conservatives, because they believe in family values, personal responsibility and freedom. Yet their president routinely behaves in ways that make a mockery of those very values.
I’m a Brit watching from afar, and I’m not interested in any whataboutery. There’s plenty about my own country and its political leaders that I find deeply shameful.
But I genuinely cannot think of a British leader in my lifetime who has displayed quite such a grotesque combination of infantility, offensiveness and narcissism as the current president of the United States.
This isn’t strength. It isn’t humour. It isn’t owning the liberals. It’s the behaviour of a man who appears incapable of recognising that the suffering and death of another human being should not be turned into an opportunity for self-glorification.
It’s utterly shameful.
The sooner Donald Trump leaves the political stage, the better. And I sincerely hope the midterms mark the beginning of that process.
Donald Trump has shared an AI video in which he wrestles the tiger that killed William Chapman, a British man, at a South Yorkshire zoo.
On Tuesday night, the US president also shared the actual footage of the attack on Truth Social, showing the moments before Chapman was mauled to death.

It's almost impossible to understand the depths of depravity that are needed to produce something like this in the wake of a young man's tragic death. That it comes from a US President is despicable beyond words.

One of the few films that captured the first plane hitting the tower that day, too. Almost every tv station recored the second plane, since they were already reporting on the first. But this is the only one I've ever seen of the first plane. It's absolutely terrifying.
I was surprised by how many people had never seen the footage I posted of firefighters inside the North Tower on 9/11 yesterday. Here is the remarkable story behind that footage, and how we came to have such an intimate record of the firefighters and their response that day:
The footage is from French filmmaking brothers Jules and Gédéon Naudet. Months before September 11, they had begun making a documentary about New York City firefighters, specifically following a young rookie, or “probie,” named Tony Benetatos. They started filming in the summer of 2001.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Jules went out with Battalion Chief Joseph Pfeifer and firefighters to investigate something utterly routine: a report of a gas leak/odor at Church and Lispenard Streets.
While Jules was filming the firefighters investigating the suspected leak at about 8:46 a.m., they suddenly heard the enormous roar of a jet overhead.
The firefighters looked up.
Jules instinctively pointed his camera toward the sound.
That is the footage you're seeing.
He caught American Airlines Flight 11 flying into the North Tower. It became one of the extremely few recordings of the first impact.
Jules kept filming.
He accompanied Chief Pfeifer and the firefighters directly to the World Trade Center and went inside the North Tower with them. His camera recorded the FDNY command operation in the lobby as chiefs tried to understand what had happened and began sending firefighters upstairs.
Meanwhile, Gédéon was filming separately. Once he realized what was happening, he headed toward the World Trade Center looking for Jules. For part of the morning, each brother believed the other might have been killed. They eventually reunited roughly two and a half hours later.
They weren't there to document 9/11 at all. Their cameras were already embedded with precisely the firefighters who would become some of the first people responding to the attack.
The brothers, along with firefighter/filmmaker James Hanlon, ultimately turned the material into the documentary 9/11.
Before 9/11, they had actually been frustrated because their rookie firefighter wasn't getting enough real fires for their documentary. They had spent much of the summer filming ordinary firehouse life without capturing the major call they felt their film needed.
If you've never watched the full Naudet brothers' 9/11 documentary, you simply must. In fact, it should be compulsory to view in American schools (Canadian too, if you as me).

We remember the 2,977 lives lost, the first responders who answered the call, and the families whose lives were changed forever. May we never forget the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown on one of the darkest days in our nation’s history. ❤️🇺🇸
We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🙏🇺🇸
