@Absa @AbsaSouthAfrica Is it normal to have a business bank account blocked for over 2 months - the business banker says the bank’s FICA department has a backlog. How do you escalate and address if it’s been this long and still no access to transact on the account?

Comrades Marathon Appreciation 🙏🏽🏅
May I extend my sincere appreciation to everyone for the supportive messages following my 1st Comrades Marathon run. This is one marathon that demands extraordinary resilience, determination, and endurance. Thank you for your encouragement and support.
A special word of appreciation goes to my family, especially my wife, Nelly Zikalala, for their unwavering support throughout this journey.
My heartfelt thanks also go to Chillie Runners for their guidance and camaraderie, and to the iMbawula Camp team for the intense training sessions that helped prepare me for this challenge.
To the people of South Africa, particularly the people of KwaZulu-Natal, thank you for coming out in your numbers to support the race and cheer on the runners. Your energy and encouragement along the route made a remarkable difference.
I also salute the leaders who took to the streets to stand with the people and support the runners. MEC Gugu Simelane-Mngadi at Cowies Hill and MEC Siboniso Duma at Cato Ridge demonstrated that leadership is not about sharing in the glory, but about being present with the people when it matters most.
Thank you to everyone for your support! 🙏🏽

The anomaly in South Africa is not just high taxes - it’s paying nearly 50% of your income to the state and still having to fund your own healthcare, education, transport, housing, and security. Citizens are paying twice: once through taxes, and again for the services those taxes should provide.
An average South African 🇿🇦earning between R20k to R50k a month pays almost half of their salary to the government. @sarstax
When we are done with illegal immigrationcrisis, there are some serious questions that this government MUST answer!!

@geordinhl @CityofCT My mothers house has been without electricity for 6 days and have made over 40 follow up calls and no one is assisting. The house was illegally disconnected but the revenue dept says they did not give instruction as account has no arrears. Urgently need help!
CoCT - has the wrong house address loaded on eServices
Revenue Dept - Not their instruction
First Line Response - Not allowed to remove
Depot - not their problem
City ombudsman - 30 to 120 days to attend to my complaint

Comrades Marathon Guarantees Entry Fee Refunds in Case of Event Cancellation
The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to runners by ensuring that all entrants will receive a full refund of their entry fees if the Comrades Marathon is cancelled due to adverse or severe weather conditions.
Through its partnership with its insurance underwriters, iTOO Special Risks, the CMA has secured comprehensive Contingency and Cancellation Insurance - also known as Event Cancellation Cover - to safeguard both participants and the organisation against potential losses arising from an unforeseen cancellation.
As one of South Africa’s premier sporting events, the Comrades Marathon demands extensive planning, logistics, and coordination. However, the CMA recognises that circumstances beyond its control - such as extreme weather - can sometimes force the cancellation or abandonment of an event. Factoring this risk into both event planning and insurance coverage ensures greater resilience and fairness to all involved.
This policy provides security and peace of mind for runners and organisers alike. The CMA believes that no athlete should lose their entry fee or miss out on the chance to fulfil their dream of running the Comrades Marathon due to conditions beyond their control.
ENDS.
