TALK ABOUT A GUTSY RUN 😫
After making a bold move around halfway in the 2026 Chicago Marathon, Vinny Mauri 🇺🇸 wrestles a bear of a final 10km, stopping multiple times to stretch but still hanging on for a tenth place, third American finish in 2:06:45.
In only his second career marathon, Mauri has shown he belongs in the mix with the best distance runners in the world.

NBC5 cutting away to interview an Abbott VP during the final two miles of an incredibly dramatic women's race between Hawi Feysa and Sharon Lokedi at the Chicago Marathon is simply absurd.
Broadcasting malpractice and total disrespect for the event.

I suspect Masai Russell will win AOTY, and she would be very deserving. But there's a case for Audrey Werro, too.
Werro is hurt by comparisons against times from the '80s that no one believes in. Strip those out and she ran the three fastest 800s ever in 2026.

In 2015, I compiled a chronological list of the sub-10 club when it had reached 100 members.
Eleven years later, there are now 232 of them. 😳
The first 100 took 47 years.
The next 100 took nine.

Cross country needs more hills with names, times that need explaining, and races remembered for who beat whom.

GAMES RECORD!!! 🤩💪🏻
18-year-old Yan Ziyi 🇨🇳 hurled the spear to an incredible throw of 70.46m to win the women’s javelin at the Asian Games in Nagoya.
Only six women have ever thrown over 70m—she’s now achieved this feat twice.

This is incredibly exciting for track and field.
If Puripol Boonson can continue this kind of form into next season then he will likely compete on the Diamond League circuit consistently.
The Thai sprinter could also garner a lot of support at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing!
ASIAN RECORD!!!! 😤🔥
Puripol Boonson 🇹🇭 clocked 19.88 seconds (-0.3) to dominate the men’s 200m final at the Asian Games in Nagoya.
It’s a personal best, national record, games record, and equals the Asian record.

Jessica Hull has not missed an international championship since her 1500m silver at the Paris Olympics in August 2024.
Not only has Hull toed the line at the 10 championships, but she has also won at least one medal at each of them.

The "Best 400m hurdler of this generation" debate is far from over but Alison Dos Santos made it a LOT more interesting this year with his undefeated season and WR
They now combine for the top 37 times in the history of the event and are no where near done
The rate that track and field progressed this year is actually mind blowing; this was technically an “off season” and yet we witnessed multiple World Records, multiple top 5 ever marks and superb competition. Glad I was able to witness this year hope to see athletes back and better next year. 💕
