Thrilled to share a life/career update: I have been promoted to Partner at @UTEC_official!
I moved to Japan from a small town in India in 2014 as a 20-something with stars in my eyes, eventually joining UTEC in 2018. It's surreal to look back at the past decade and the incredible opportunity I've had to do what I truly love - partnering with deep-tech startups in Japan, India, Singapore, USA, and Kenya.
Thank you for letting me be a small part of your journeys - @tricoghealth Bugworks @anand_bugworks AiLA-X @swatmobility @PeachCarsKE @eurekarobotics @AeremOfficial @LiminalInsights @zamshq @ePlaneCompany Maieutic, InfiniMind, Agara, @BlumeVentures and so many others.
What an absolute privilege it is to work with entrepreneurs and researchers whose determination and resilience inspire me every day, and push me to be a better version of myself.
I'm deeply thankful to my teammates at @UTEC_official for their trust, their support, and for espousing the spirit of lifelong learning: @tomotaka_goji @noritaya @AtsushiUsami_VC @IdeKeis @KobyMd and team. I love that we at UTEC are a true Partnership in every sense - we learn and grow together.
I'm incredibly excited about the future, and the chance to make a small positive dent in the universe!

"Japan is an issue-advanced country. The societal problems Japan faces today are the problems that countries in East Asia, North America and Europe will face in the future", says Noriaki Sakamoto in the second episode of Rising Edge podcast.
Japan's startup funding has grown ~10x in a decade, international VCs are entering the market, and the old "risk-averse Japan" perception no longer matches reality.
In this episode of Rising Edge, UTEC's Kiran Mysore sits down with Nori Sakamoto, Managing Partner and COO at UTEC and a three-time Forbes Japan Midas List honoree. Nori unpacks what actually changed over the past decade and where Japan's startup ecosystem is headed next.
