Conform, and maybe he lives. Don't, and maybe he doesn't. My son only plays with toy guns in our fenced backyard. I know that's conforming. I also know I'm terrified.

Omaha-area school police used shock gloves on students. Omaha banned them. Millard kept them. When is it ever okay to shock a child?

Women are not believed because they are women. False reports are rare, roughly 2 to 10 percent. Doubt is still the default. Our boys are learning about women from someone. Make sure it's us.

Boys will be boys.Ask who that sentence is actually for. Some kids get grace for everything. Some get grace for nothing. Neither one is how you raise a human being.

Ice cream and shark attacks rise together. Ice cream isn't the cause. Heat is. Ask what else drives both.

The one-drop rule was a law, not a family decision. The law ended. The boundary kept doing damage.

I asked about 100college students if they’d heard of the one-drop rule.2 had. Louisiana repealed its version in 1983.The law ended. The rule didn’t. Les pregunté a unos 100universitarios si conocían la regla de una gota. LI derogó su versión en 1983. La ley terminó. La regla no

"Special needs" is not a risk label. Disabled kids have about 3.7x odds of experiencing violence, and the Secret Service found no profile of school attackers. "Necesidades especiales" no es una etiqueta de riesgo. Los niños con discapacidad tienen cerca de 3.7 veces mas.

Three children and a teacher died in Bend, Oregon. This should never happen. Not with children. Period. It keeps happening, =policy problem. Punto. Sigue pasando, y eso no debe ser. Punto

It's not just a tragedy. It's not a news cycle. For Black families it's every single day. Nolan Wells is the name people know right now. It shouldn't take outrage, publicity, or big names for anyone to care that a kid died. It shouldn't matter his color or whether he was good.

A kid died. Period. I worry about my son every single day. I have nightmares about it.His pediatrician thinks he'll be around 6'7", and I already know that no matter how sweet, how law-abiding, how empathetic he is, the world may see a terrifying Black man before it ever sees him

Clinicians keep treating a protective practice like a risk. Preparing a kid for bias, alone: more anxiety. Paired with cultural identity: protective. A prepared child is not a frightened child. Preparar para el prejuicio, sola: más ansiedad.Con identidad cultural: protectora.

Once again Neilis on point 👌🏻He literally just explained the problem and a solution in detail.

Back to school night: you get ~90 seconds. Don’t open with the problem. “Two things that help him: ___ and ___.” Then ask: if something comes up, will you tell me early or wait for conferences? Send one email that night. Now it’s dated. No hace falta un diagnóstico.🦁

A teacher can’t do much with a diagnosis. She can do a lot with a goal. “He’s shy” becomes “I want him to have one kid he can sit with at lunch.” Observable. Has a next step. She can start Monday. Pick two. Not seven. Di la habilidad, no la etiqueta.

My kid knows his multiplication tables and can still completely lose it if you correct him. Depends on the day. Those are 2 different skills and teachers keep grading the 2nd one as a character flaw because they can see the first one working. Give them the rest of the dets. 🦁

Week one of school is not a baseline. Almost every kid regresses somewhere in the first two weeks. Before you change anything about your kid, change the routine. Most first-month problems are executive function, not attitude. La primera semana no es la base.
