Waited since I was 7 years old to see the Bayeux Tapestry. Got in an hour-long online queue to spend £50 on tickets. Got there ahead of time. Stood in a queue for 20 minutes. Then was told halfway through the queue that the gallery was closing.

This is a very good question, and something we were discussing on the way in. I didn't see any wheelchair users. As someone without wheelchair experience, I am not entirely sure of this, but I think the quality of wheelchair access would depend a lot on the height of the wheelchair. It would almost certainly not be as good as from a higher vantage point, purely because you'd be seeing the tapestry at such an odd angle.
Let me r/t this, and see whether anyone else knows the answer.

Does anyone know this lady who was beating her dog (a ginger Cockapoo) on the causeway at Staines about 2pm (possibly Saturday). When approached she was drunk out of head and really abusive..the poor dog had its tail between its legs …someone must know her. Lucky she didn’t get beat herself.

Scumbags walk amongst us! 😡
A man kicked his dog until he died. It happened in broad daylight in Palestrina, Lazio, in front of people who could hardly believe what they were witnessing. The dog was beaten until he had nothing left. A passerby stepped in and rushed him to an emergency vet, but the dog didn't survive.
After calls from the crowd, the Carabinieri intervened, identifying and reporting a 56 year old man and opening a full investigation. He now faces up to four years in prison and a €60,000 fine. But is that really enough? How can anyone direct this kind of violence at an animal that depends on us?
Animals are not property. They are not punching bags for human rage. They are living, breathing souls. And this time, a precious life was shattered in the most brutal way possible.
Let's make our voices heard.
Let's talk about it.

💥 Roaming criminal groups invading farms. Dogs bred to kill. Wildlife ripped apart for cash. 💥
Across the UK, organised criminal gangs — mostly from the travelling community — are staging illegal hare coursing meets that leave farmers terrified and wildlife slaughtered.
These groups smash through gates, intimidate landowners, and unleash dogs to chase, torture and kill hares for gambling prizes of up to £50,000. Police say hare coursing has surged tenfold in recent years, driven by criminals who treat the countryside like their playground.
On Facebook groups like East Midlands Hare Coursing , they share photos of piles of dead hares or dogs posing over carcases and openly brag about “hundreds of kills”
Dogs can be sold for £10,000–£55,000 depending on how many animals they’ve torn apart
These gangs travel from county to county, armed with knives, machetes and even firearms. They blast party music while dogs rip wildlife to pieces. They dump carcasses outside schools and village shops as intimidation.

👉 Children traumatised by piles of dead animals
👉 Farmers threatened, chased, and confronted by masked men with weapons
👉 Entire fields invaded by convoys of 4x4s
One Cambridgeshire farmer watched 70 men pour out of vehicles after criminals cut through iron gates with an angle‑grinder. His terrified seven‑year‑old asked:
“Are these men going to come inside, Daddy?”
Chief Inspector Kevin Lacks‑Kelly says: “These are violent criminals. They abuse people, animals, women. They carry weapons. They are not the people you want in your community.”

🌈💔 UPDATE: The baby hedgehog has sadly died.
We're sharing this post from Thorne Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C.
A tiny 245g hoglet was kicked repeatedly and left near death. The footage is horrific. A second clip shows one of the offenders taking a photo of what he’s done.
The charity says this is just one of many cases they’ve reported with video evidence, vet bills, witness statements and injury reports — only to be told “no further action” because offenders “can’t be identified”. They are sickened and furious that this keeps happening without accountability.
A child filmed the attack, got the hedgehog help, and offered to be a witness — braver than the “men” who carried out the violence.
They need names.
If you recognise the individuals, please message the charity confidentially. They will be reporting this to police and want names to go with the footage.

Bad news. Yesterday, a golden Celtic torque was stolen from Musée du Pays Châtillonnais, France. I know this museum well: in 1973, thieves stole a Roman Bacchus statue there, which I managed to recover in 2022. Now it happened again. The hunt is on.
