Leo Wise, a hard-nosed ex federal prosecutor whose career spanned Enron to Hunter Biden makes a powerful case that the Supreme Court has made public integrity prosecutions impossible — ushering a golden age of corruption.

Expedia is a textbook case of enshittification. It is also a feature of allowing whole sectors of the economy to be rigged by online platforms, reinforced by the 2007 SCOTUS opinion in Leegin.
It should be a top priority for the new Congress to reverse Leegin and make coercive platform price restraints illegal per se.

Tragic news: Curtis Flowers, who faced an extraordinarily ordeal by being prosecuted six times for the same crime by a Mississippi DA over decades before SCOTUS sided with him in 2019, just died at 56.
Flowers' case was core to the 'In the Dark' podcast.

This is the most incredible moment you will ever see during this sort of testimony. Don't let anyone spoil it for you before you watch!
After you understand the perjury Schmitt is accusing Smith of, you can jump to 4:30. Genuinely have never seen anything like this.

NEW: Million-dollar lawsuits are mounting from people who received clemency from President Trump for charges in connection with Jan. 6.
New suit filed today includes a man convicted of seditious conspiracy in the Oath Keepers case; a judge "reluctantly" let DOJ end that prosecution this week

I would like to give kudos to AOC for once again being the only adult leftist and avoiding Graham Platner like the plague
It's amazing how many times the rest of the left does something apocalyptically stupid and the only one who avoids having to backtrack is Cortez. Given she's a) way smarter than any other leftist political figure in America and b) a woman under 40, I suspect she took one look at Platner, thought "I would not leave my drink unattended near that guy," and stayed as far away from him as possible
Oh please. It's been obvious for the better part of a year that this is who he is. It's the least surprising development of 2026.

Oh it's going to get worse, and they all know it.
What a gross and embarrassing position Democrats have put themselves in.
FIFA is doing FIFA things, but dang, this is so joyless.
Even if Americans are happy that Balogun can now play (myself included), FIFA has just set an insane precedent:
Any interpretable red card at the World Cup can now come under scrutiny in hindsight. The referees judgment isn’t final. It hints at the fact that FIFA can do as they please, even if it means disagreeing with the subjective decisions of their own referees.
Imagine how Rafael Clauss (referee) and Juan Soto (VAR) are feeling right now? FIFA just undermined their credibility.
This isn’t overruling something objective, a decision that’s based on fact. They’re rescinding a decision based on opinion. For as much as I believe Balogun didn’t deserve the red, it’s an interpretable decision.
Anything can now be questioned after the fact. And it’s up to FIFA’s “judicial body” – whoever that is, wherever they are – to call make critical decisions as they see fit.

Ted Cruz in 2011, before he felt the need to pander to the xenophobic right: "The 14th Amendment provides for birthright citizenship. I’ve looked at the legal arguments against it, and I will tell you, as a Supreme Court litigator, those arguments are not very good. As much as someone may dislike the policy of birthright citizenship, it’s in the Constitution."

4. 10 months later, an innocent bystander — 46-year-old delivery driver Nolberto Meza — is dead. Meza died when his moped was struck by a vehicle being chased by Park Police. The chase would not have been permissible before the policy change.

Obviously I'm a little biased since I edited this thing but that a story about a killed criminal investigation into a sitting senator wasn't picked up, followed & pushed forward by major outlets is an excellent & sorry illustration of our broken information environment.
This should be on the front page of every newspaper in America.
Trump’s DOJ just shut down a federal investigation into a coal company owned by Sen. Jim Justice, one of his closest allies, after it racked up tens of thousands of alleged violations for dumping dangerous chemicals into our waterways. A veteran federal prosecutor with 24 years on the job said he had never seen anything like it.
The man who killed the case was Todd Blanche, Trump’s former personal defense lawyer and current Acting Attorney General. This is the same guy who just gave Trump, his family, and his companies permanent immunity from IRS audits. Now Trump wants the Senate to make Blanche’s appointment permanent too.
Equal justice under law was never supposed to come with exceptions for the President’s friends.
The pattern isn’t subtle: protect Trump’s friends, prosecute his critics, and get rewarded with more power. That is corruption, plain and simple. Todd Blanche must not be confirmed.
