75 million removed in a year is a big number. The real test is whether the filters catch spam before it ever reaches a listener's recommendations.
Groove Synthesis's free 3rd Wave editor began as an owner's side project. Game composer Pedro Macedo Camacho built 3rd Wave Terminal because "I needed this tool for a long time" (SOS). The best synth tools often start that way. #MusicTech #Synthesizer #GrooveSynthesis #3rdWave
Our take: this fixes the two complaints people had about the original, tiny keys and touch strips, for $200 more. The trade is size, and 350 factory presets instead of 420. arturia.com/products/hardwar…
Same six-voice hybrid engine: two digital engines and an analog filter per voice. New XYZ touch matrix for modulation and macros, and it reads old MiniFreak presets. The 37-key stays at $649.
Arturia's MiniFreak 49 is out: 49 full-size semi-weighted keys with mono aftertouch, real pitch and mod wheels instead of touch strips, and 8x the memory (256 MB). $849 (Arturia). #MusicTech #Synthesizer #Arturia #MiniFreak
Our take: the same week labels want DistroKid's detector data as court evidence, the biggest streamer says detectors can't work alone. These are Spotify's own numbers, unaudited, and "slop" isn't defined. newsroom.spotify.com/2026-10…
The key line is Spotify's own: "AI detection technology in particular has limitations, and it will only get harder as generative AI evolves." So it stacks third-party detectors with listener behavior, upload patterns and metadata.
Spotify says it took 50M+ AI slop and spam tracks out of recommendations this year, and removed 75M+ spam tracks outright (Spotify). #MusicTech #AImusic #Spotify #MusicBusiness
Serato is late to phones and knows it. A-Trak at launch: "There are other iOS apps for DJing, but they aren't Serato. They aren't the official app." the-drop.serato.com/announce…
Our take: the real hook is continuity. iOS Transfer moves your laptop crates over with cue points, beatgrids and metadata intact (needs DJ Pro or Lite 5.0+). Your prep finally travels without the laptop.
It plugs into 120+ listed controllers, turntables and mixers, has a Handheld Mode for no gear at all, and streams from Apple Music, Beatport, SoundCloud, Spotify and Tidal.
Serato DJ is on iPhone and iPad for the first time, on the same engine as DJ Pro. Free to start, $149 to unlock the full app (Serato). #MusicTech #DJ #Serato #iOS
Reinier Zonneveld raised about $1M for GasLab, a GenAI app trained only on opted-in music that says it pays the artists each output draws from (Music Ally). Right idea, but the attribution math can't be checked yet; the app isn't open. #MusicTech #AImusic #GasLab #MusicBusiness
Our take: AI detectors are becoming courtroom evidence, and nobody outside has seen their error rates. DistroKid told Billboard it is cooperating with the legal process. musicbusinessworldwide.com/u…
They also want the model's name and vendor, when DistroKid started using it, and its accuracy and false-positive analysis. The labels say DistroKid delivered nearly 12 million tracks to one unnamed service from March to September — all tracks, not AI tracks (MBW).
Per MBW, the labels want monthly counts since DistroKid started using the model: how many tracks it tested, how many it scored as likely AI-made, and the streams and royalties those tracks earned, plus any it attributes to Suno.
UMG, Capitol and Sony asked a judge to force DistroKid to hand over data from the AI model it uses to screen uploads, for their Suno case. No ruling yet. #MusicTech #AImusic #Suno #MusicBusiness
Our take: the first big test of AI labels is a hit, and the label didn't slow it down. Listeners seem to care more about the song. koreaherald.com/article/1090…
