People who namedrop big names, but won't make an intro are the fakest type of people (and there's a lot of them in Silicon Valley) In my time dealing with founders, journalists, VCs, etc, it's usually 1 of 4 things: 1. They're lying and don't actually know the person. These people are the stupidest and not to worry about. Idiots. 2. They know the person but don't have enough social capital to make the intro, meaning they don't actually know the person or are afraid of them (ie. they aren't actually friends). These people are the sneakiest and usually playing zero-sum status games. 3. They know the person, but don't respect you enough to make the introduction, so they hold it over your head. These people are often pompous, think they're smarter than you, and resentful and envious types of people who don't want anyone getting ahead. These people are often Ivy League types, academics, etc. who are resentful by nature. 4. You're not ready for the intro and they're looking out for you. This is rare, but the best type of person and friend to keep around. I actually appreciate this (ex. "Can you introduce me to a VC?" "Let's wait until you actually built a MVP and then I got you" Stay away from 1-3. Watch out for 4 and see if they're telling the truth later on or if they're actually 1-3 (many such cases) Fake friends namedrop. Real friends make introductions, connect each other, and make new friends out of people who never even met each other. I introduce friends all the time. Many of my Twitter friends now are independently friends with each other and do business together. I hosted a party Friday night with 15 people so they can meet each other. If I respect you and both people are down, I will make an intro. it's very simple for me. Not everyone is the same. Many are afraid, resentful, or secretly hate you. Watch out.

i once worked as a live-in nanny for 3 small kids in hawaii. the parents were burnt out and didn’t really like parenting. they had 2 nannies covering 7am-8pm 7 days a week. the dad worked a few hours a day and the mom didn’t work. years later i saw the dad had started a blog about parenting and financial independence. in the blog he said that self-employment was important to him bc it allowed him to spend all of his time with his kids. he said that in over a decade of parenting, he’d never so much as hired a babysitter for his kids. anyway, there’s a good chance ppl trying to sell you some lifestyle thing are lying thru their teeth.

Most cheating stories are about men. But once you talk about making DNA tests mandatory, people start acting weird. That’s when the truth gets real and uncomfortable.

Please NEVER do this again. Hedgehogs are wild animals. They are terrified of human contact. What you are seeing and have wrongly assumed is loss of fear and 'chilling out' is actually dangerous exhaustion and extreme stress. Stress KILLS wildlife. What you have done is not only harmful in itself, you have added the stress of captivity and suffering to a sick hedgehog. This is a wildlife crime. Wildlife is protected in this country. You may NOT decide to kidnap and DIY on them. Fleas are a rarity in hedgehogs, and only seen in one who is extremely sick with a compromised immune system. You bathing them may well have been the last straw, and they may well have died later. As for 'washing dried blood off to see an injury' - to what effect? Did you adminster pain relief? Antibiotics? What you did was not only very cruel, it is illegal. You may NOT take a wild animal unless you are bringing it to a rescue to get professional medical help.

When you see a hedgehog out in the day time please remember he's been sick for a long time before taking this last desperate step. He's dying. IT'S AN EMERGENCY. Take him indoors in the warmth and ring a rescue IMMEDIATELY. Find your nearest rescue here: helpwildlife.co.uk/
