Robert Palmer died in the early hours of the morning on this day in 2003 at age 54 from a heart attack while on a short break in Paris with his partner, Mary Ambrose. In my opinion, this is his greatest work.

So it's not to be for Northants as they miss out on promotion to the top flight, but it has still been a season of success and progress... #nccc Huge improvement in the four-day game and, with a little bit of luck and a couple of things going their way (who said bad light?)...

And then of course, there was the first T20 Blast crown for 10 long years... a memorable season topped off with that magnificent Finals Day at Edgbaston, where David Willey's side just kept defying the odds! Now the work starts to top it all in 2027! Roll on next simmer!

@NorthantsCCC very much behind the 8 ball after day one. A sublime Ryan Higgins ton and a staunch 50 from Ben Geddes very much the difference. But this view at the close of play very much worth it! We go again tomorrow! @oldmanradd @GrahamMcKechnie @CountyChamp @TheRealCase
