Israel provides more rights and freedoms to its Palestinian citizens than Hamas or Fatah do to those they govern.
Freedom House rates Gaza (Hamas) 2/100 Not Free, with no elections since 2006, severe speech/press repression, and authoritarian rule. West Bank (Fatah/PA) scores 22/100 Not Free; no national elections since 2005-06, critics arrested, limited liberties. Israel scores 73/100 Free. Its Arab citizens vote, access independent courts, free media, and democratic institutions, despite documented disparities.

A thought amidst the madness:
You matter so much what happens to you matters very little.
The Men’s US soccer rivalry with El Tri 🇲🇽 is the 2nd best in the Western Hemisphere, after Brasíl/Argentina. That the US doesn’t play these home games in a venue that would offer home field advantage is a complete miss. Yeah- you get the sellout in Phoenix tonight, in what will be a pro Mexico crowd in the desert. When we have to play at Azteca, THAT is a home field advantage. Play in Seattle or in the winter, anywhere it’s cold.
A perfect morning in PVD. Amtrak to South Station, first class Delta seat to Nashville.

Appreciate the feedback, as always. For me: I see making money post-POTUS in a very different light. I have no illusions on Obama as far as doing the global circuit and making bank. He likes money, as most of these people do. But to me it's such a difference between in-office corruption and misuse of the mantle versus opportunism out of office. As I have said to many people: I look at previous presidential candidates from the past far differently now given this era. Romney being highest on that list.

The Palestinians have rejected a state of their own more times than any national movement in modern history.
1937 — Peel: a Jewish state on a sliver of the coast. Arab leadership said no and turned back to violence.
1947 — UN partition plan: an Arab state beside a Jewish state. The Arab Higher Committee said no, started a civil war, and then five Arab armies invaded.
2000 — Camp David: a Palestinian state with a capital in eastern Jerusalem. Arafat walked, proposed no counteroffer, and launched the Second Intifada.
2001 — Clinton Parameters: a Palestinian state with a capital in eastern Jerusalem, 96% of the "West Bank" plus 4% of Israel, all of Gaza and a connecting corridor. Arafat said no as the Second Intifada raged.
2008 — Olmert: 94% of the “West Bank” plus land swaps to make up for the other 6%, a capital in East Jerusalem, and the Old City under an international committee. The PA, this time under Abbas, never even bothered to answer.
2020 — Trump’s plan: a Palestinian state, a capital in a part of East Jerusalem, and $50 billion in economic aid to build their country. Abbas called it the “slap of the century” in 2018, two years before the text existed. On the day it was released, he said “a thousand times no.” He refused Trump’s call and refused to even take a copy.
They do not keep saying no because the borders were wrong. They keep saying no because the real demand is not a state beside Israel. It is a state instead of Israel.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals he built a smoking tent outside his Capitol office to bypass laws and negotiate deals with lawmakers
"The law says that you have to be 20 feet away from the building."
"I have an atrium where my office is, and we have measured 20 feet away from the building from each side of this atrium. And we're building a tent. We built a tent that is big enough so we can have inside meetings and everything like that, and we're going to smoke our cigars in there."
"They sent me a bill to forbid smoking in a smoking tent. And so, of course, I didn't sign it. I vetoed it."
"Democrats and other legislators came down and asked me, begged me, 'Can I come down and smoke?' And that's how I got most of my deals done."
"They came down to smoke, and we found something in common, which is smoking. We smoked our stogies, took our jackets off, took our ties off, and we were sitting there and saying, 'What are you working on?'"
"And so we started working together, and I was able to sign more of their legislation because they were not stubborn about how they wrote the legislation. We got a lot of things done because of the smoking tent."

I’m not the RIGOP. I’m one of the only relevant Republicans who isn’t elected, representing someplace that would elect a Republican potato. No disrespect to the potato. I do my own thing. If I ran RIGOP? Huge success. So much winning they’d beg me to stop.

All it would take is for the movement to say “change is needed today in Israel for all, as that regime has failed. We care for Jews as we do all people of all cultures”
And that would turn the temp down. But, that’s not happening my friend.

NYT has issued many corrections on Israel stories over the years. A peer-reviewed study found it admitted 72 errors in Israel-Hamas war coverage from Oct 2023 to June 2024, with 48 involving Israel. Key examples: Oct 2023 Al-Ahli hospital editors’ note on over-reliance on Hamas claims; 2025 note adding a Gaza child’s pre-existing conditions to a malnutrition story; Sept 2026 removal of a line implying Israelis’ Oct 7 victim status was perception. See NYT corrections pages for full records.

The “Nakba” story dies on this primary source leaflet dated April 28, 1948.
The Haifa Workers Council and the Histadrut printed it and told the city’s Arabs not to leave.
“Do not destroy your homes with your own hands ... The gates are open for work, for life, and for peace, for you and your families.”
That week, British police in Haifa had reported the same thing. Jews were trying to keep shops open and to guarantee Arab lives and property. Ben-Gurion sent Golda Meir to say it to Haifa’s Arab residents face-to-face. Tens of thousands of them left anyway.
“Nakba” first named the Arab failure to destroy the Jewish state. Later it was rebranded as a Jewish expulsion order. Look to Haifa and test that theory. There was no order to get out. There was a printed appeal to stay in multiple languages.
The Arab Higher Committee called anyone who remained under Jewish protection a “renegade.” Its chairman, Jamal Husseini, told the Security Council the Arabs “preferred to abandon their homes, their belongings, and everything they possessed in the world and leave the town.”
Most of Haifa’s 62,000 Arab residents walked out. A few thousand stayed. They became citizens of the new state, and today their grandchildren vote in Israel.
The expulsion story requires this page not to exist.

The Ottomans had 400 years to create a Palestinian State when they controlled the area. The Arabs had 19 years to create a Palestinian State when they controlled Judea, Samaria, and Gaza between 1948 and 1967. They purposefully chose not to. In fact, there was no demand for such a state in those territories from anyone, including from the Arabs themselves, and not from any Western country either. The demands only started when the Jews came home to those areas. Then suddenly the demands for a Palestinian State began. You can almost understand the hypocrisy of the Arabs, but such sudden demands from Western countries are particularly obnoxious. There has never been a sovereign State called “Palestine” in the history of the world.
It is particularly amusing to hear @KingAbdullahII of Jordan speak so passionately about international law and the rights of Palestinians in Judea and Samaria.
In July 1988, on the orders of his father, King Hussein, Jordan collectively and unilaterally revoked the citizenship and rights of Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria - in complete violation of international law.
Overnight, Palestinians in Judea and Samaria lost the right to vote or run for the Jordanian parliament, work in the Jordanian civil service, or receive funding from the Hashemite Kingdom. Their Jordanian passports were confiscated or not renewed. They were classified as foreign nationals. Their entry into Jordan and their ability to remain there were restricted.
Tell us more about international law.

Breaking: New York Times shareholders just SUED the company over its Israel coverage.
The suit cites a Jewish former NYT employee who says she repeatedly blew the whistle on antisemitism and anti-Israel bias inside the newsroom, raising concerns at least 15 times through managers, HR, and the standards desk.
The Times ignored her complaints.
Now shareholders are asking a judge to force the paper to turn over internal records it has refused to produce for months.
