I’m going to write shorter threads from now on to make them more manageable to write. They’ll all be listed below in no particular order!

Everyone in the replies wants to make it about immigration, but it’s brainrot surface-level analysis.
The better question is:
Who influenced those policymakers? And what were those policymakers doing during their formative years that made Europe OK with this?

Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks.
Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. wapo.st/4yt6dHY

They really just got on stage and said this newly designed 4000+ pound car can do flips and go half the speed of sound (380+mph) and will ship in 2028. This is a prank, right?

Being a dad is just telling yourself “it’s been an expensive month, we’ll get back on track next month” over and over again until you die

Some observations on 'autoresearch', in our experience:
1) 'make this thing faster': work wells.
2) 'improve this frontier training run' deeply unimpressive.
3) 'i want to catch up to near frontier' works fine.
(2) is obviously the dream, basically = RSI. We don't have that yet, clearly.
(1) can at times be (2), although generally its not been for us, so it works (for code not at frontier already). Plus, 'code' easier than 'research', at least easier to posttrain for, so, I think it follows. I do hate drawing the distinction with sharpness though.
(3) is pretty useful - straight labor substitution, you could do it yourself since its basically running a playbook, but don't have to.
Agents can be helpful for (2) type work too of course, experiment manager on steriods.
I guess the quadrillion dollar question is when we cross the line for (2). I think soon enough, although one can make an argument that RLVR is not a great paradigm to get there (but I wouldn't make a big bet against it being enough).

The UK’s most powerful government-built AI supercomputer, Isambard-AI, cost £225m
The Botley Road bridge cost roughly the same
Apparently our frontier AI capacity and one bridge are comparable national investments

A short rail bridge over a two-lane road in Oxford took longer to build and cost more (inflation-adjusted) than some of the most famous construction projects in history

I feel sorry for Ed Sheeran
Yes, he’s a multimillionaire recording artist
But he’s also — at heart — a Hollister, gap-year normie
The sort of middle-class lad who can’t help but bust out the guitar at a house party and wants everyone to get along
He’s not built for this age
