I feel so ashamed as a proud Greek Australian to see Greeks booing a Welcome To Country last night. Shame on us. The First Nations community of Melbourne deserves a formal apology for the behaviour of Greek Australians last night. #australiacup #Hellas #SouthMelbourne

Martin O'Neill: "Should I get more time and things? No, I don't think so.
"I might have the energy, but if we keep losing football matches, I might not get the chance to re-energise myself.
"I had an illness there recently so that definitely knocks you back a little bit.
"You do get knocked when you lose football matches, it hurts me as much now at 74 as it did when I started managing. Perhaps maybe even more now.
"I'm not exempt from criticism. I've never felt I have been... Celtic will replace me when the moment is right."

Viewer beware, you’re in for a scare.
At times this veers more towards just emotional frustration as opposed to full scale tactical analysis.
But try and watch this without getting angry or frustrated.
Rewatching the match just now (I know) and I am genuinely staggered at how poorly we are set up. I’ll get some clips up tomorrow but some initial thoughts while it’s fresh in my mind:
McGregor’s comments about passivity are accurate, but he was arguably the worst of the lot. Just jogging about. Our press/counter-press was nonexistent. When we lost the ball we just stood about waiting for them to do something.
And the long balls to Hogh… deary, deary me. It’s as if we genuinely don’t want to play football. Any time there’s a slight bit of pressure on us, we just punt it long. Which is all the more baffling considering the only times we looked okay was when we persisted in trying to play our way up the park.
Why is Baur the one sitting high up the pitch? Every clip I have seen of him at Paderborn and everything about his profile suggested that this is a player who is good at progressing the ball from deeper areas, but is less productive higher up and struggles physically. So why are we asking him to sit high up the park and play in congested areas with physical players?
We’ve lost these qualifying games in the past due to just not having the right players. We’ve lost them due to bad luck or mentality. This feels different to me. This was sheer tactical ineptitude combined with a lack of desire and intensity. Seriously embarrassing stuff.

Just goes to show how fickle you lot are. A couple decent signings and suddenly Not Another Penny is “shut up and take my money” it’s fucking pathetic. Have some shame. That could never be me. I’m a man of principal…

Sobering stuff. My 16-year old son wears these awful things all the time but he’s starting a BTEC in Blowtorching Your Own Clothes in September. His mother & I are worried sick. We’ve offered to buy him an authentic stadium replica with ClimaCool™️ technology, but to no avail 😔

Messi's last ever favor to the world on the big stage was stopping England from touching the World Cup final. We can never repay him.
