A 70th anniversary love letter to Parkleys estate in Richmond, our local oasis of midcentury modernity, it name-checks Bowie, Nairn, and Monster energy drinks.

There’s a proverb in Naples about people who don’t necessarily know much but like to sound like experts when things are easy. It goes quando il mare è calmo ogni strunz e marenar, or “when the sea is calm, every asshole is a sailor”

I’ve put a new John Barry comp together. I’m quite excited. Bond themes, plus obscurities from Man In The Middle, Dutchman, The Chase (US single version)…magical stuff. acerecords.co.uk/somethings-…

Just a reminder that Britain is full of headteachers of outstanding schools in multicultural areas who just quietly get on with the job and don’t make stupid pronouncements on here for attention

The Kugelhaus, or "Ball House," in Dresden, 1928 — housed exhibition rooms and a restaurant —destroyed by the modernist-hating Nazis in 1938.
Re-thinking much of what I’d presumed about early 60s Cardiff having just watched this. Check it out if only to visit a time before the city centre became a Cwmbran tribute act (without the free parking).

The "Buffalo Gals" music video encapsulates what I meant by "...the innovation in Hip-Hop was primarily driven by its diversity." It features Latino, Black, and White Breakers and Graff artists and women, who, by the way, aren't being sexualized. I'd be remiss if I didn't add that the song was produced by a British punk rocker named Malcolm McLaren and featured the World's Famous Supreme Team rapping and scratching. FYI, they were a part of the five percent nation of Islam. "Buffalo Gals" literally shows how authentic Hip-Hop by the early 1980s included Religion, Race, Gender, and Ethnicity. If Hip-Hop were purely "Black culture," it would have been birthed somewhere in the South, Georgia, the Carolinas, or something. But it wasn't. Hip-Hop exists because of the unique social, political, and economic circumstances and the vast mix of cultures in NYC, particularly the Bronx. If you lack the wisdom to evaluate information, you'll resist the truth, in my words. I lived what I just wrote, though, so whether you accept it doesn't make a difference because I saw it happen.
Had a splendid day in tropical Tory-free Wales, where my daring to drink water as well as beer led me to being labelled ‘a water guy’.
