It was particularly lovely to get to revisit the topic of my MA dissertation. The journal article that resulted from that is available via the link below should anyone be interested: journals.sagepub.com/doi/ful… An open access pre-print version is also here: nrl.northumbria.ac.uk/id/epr…

Having attempted to digest all of the brilliant talks I attended at #LILAC24 I've attempted to summarise my 19 pages of notes into 3 key themes that I spotted across the sessions I attended. Thanks again to the @LILAC_conf team for a brilliant conference linkedin.com/pulse/thoughts-…

Something that's occupied my thoughts this week (exacerbated by it being a dominating topic at #LILAC24) - with the rise of AI and the preference for sans serif fonts, will the name Al (as in short for Alfred, Albert, Alan etc) die out?

Saw an article title about Al Pacino the other day and read it as though there was to be a virtual version of him, rather than it simply being his name (the same one I've seen in the credits of loads of films!)

Home & unpacked after an amazing 3 days at #LILAC24 in Leeds! A huge thank you to the conference team for putting together an incredible event and programme of talks. I feel so enriched by all I heard. I've got pages & pages of notes to decipher but for now it's sleep time!

And so my #LILAC24 journey begins. Train number one heading towards the capital! Lovely to have some blue skies to accompany the journey, hopefully this will last for the whole of the conference (checks weather forecast and clutches to the brolly I thankfully put in my bag 🌧️🌂)

Lovely little stroll through London from Waterloo to Leicester Square and a little ride on the tube to Kings Cross. Leeds is on the board and train two of the day will follow shortly! #LILAC24

And now all aboard the LNER and only the final leg of my #LILAC24 journey. Looking forward to exploring Leeds a little this evening once I've arrived

A little boost for this blog I wrote last week where I put down some of my thoughts on what I want to see from an AI research tool before I would even consider recommending it to my students: linkedin.com/pulse/im-just-g… Would be really interested in your thoughts!

Staying up to watch the whole of #TheOscars seemed like a good idea last night. This morning as I prepare to deliver a referencing session to 1st year sport students on 4 hours sleep it seems a little foolhardy. Hoping to channel some of Ryan Gosling's Kenergy Wish me luck!

Really positive first meeting of the new @CILIP_ARLG committee earlier. Lots of good ideas and looking forward to helping get us back out there creating learning and networking opportunities for colleagues in academic and research libraries ☺️

🔍 More than 1/3 of #HE students who’ve used #generativeAI don’t know how often it produces hallucinations. For Mike Jones @ThatLibraryMan from @SolentUni, librarians can play a vital role in developing AI literacy. 🤖 Find out more 👇 bit.ly/3I5yw7y

After feeling sorry for myself last Tues, having missed out on an opportunity - this Tues started more brightly when I arrived at my desk to find this little guy, a gift from an academic as thanks for some help with her research. Also pictured, today's awesome Xmas jumper!

Had some disappointing (but completely fair) work-adjacent news this afternoon but can't be down when I'm wearing a Xmas jumper this awesome!

In preparation for the inevitable demise of this app, I've set myself up to join the growing librarian community on the blue alternative. Please give me a follow if you're already over there, username is the same 😊

Ned's book was an essential text for my Library MA dissertation (and is cited numerous times in the subsequent journal article - link in bio if anyone's interested) so I'd love to read a follow up. If you're involved in library marketing, please ensure you fill in his survey!
Library people of X! Can you do me one last favour? I'm seeking input on what people need from a book on #library marketing, if I were to write another... There's a brief form here: forms.gle/GHenpef6RLXEZEGB7 If you can fill it in / RT I'd appreciate it massively. Thank you.

Does anyone have any recommendations of papers/research that discuss the issues/limitations/negative aspects of using #LibGuides as a tool for disseminating #InfoLit instruction and advice? Found plenty of positives but looking an alternative viewpoint Thanks in advance!
