Many people choose a plant-based diet to cause less harm to animals and the planet, and that's an admirable goal. But good intentions don't guarantee good outcomes. Grain and legume crops come with their own deaths. Harvesters, plows, and rodent poisons kill huge numbers of mice, birds, and other small animals every season, and those deaths are rarely counted. One estimate put it at about 55 animal deaths per 100 kg of usable protein from wheat, compared with about 2 from grass-fed beef. The evidence is clear that no food system is free of death. The fair way to compare diets is by their full outcomes, not by which deaths are easiest to see.

I've been interested in the shift in protein consumption--people are eating more, which I appreciate. We used to believe there was a hard limit on how much protein the body could absorb in one sitting, usually about 20 to 30 grams. That idea mostly came from studies where muscle protein synthesis leveled off after a modest dose of whey after lifting. New evidence says that limit isn't so limited. When people ate 100 grams of protein after exercise, their muscles kept making new protein for more than 12 hours, longer and to a greater degree than after 25 grams, and very little of the extra protein was burned off as fuel. When it comes to protein, stop counting grams per meal and focus on the daily total. If a big protein dinner is what fits, eat it.

Even as a non-religious person, I personally cringe at the hubris required to personally tell the Pope that you think your company has created an ensouled being, thus rendering Anthropic equivalent to God the creator. Further, that you did it for profit and it is now enslaved.

This is the textbook mechanics of anarcho-tyranny. The managerial state coddles violent felons, yet deploys armed enforcers to shackle an injured 77-year-old on his own property over cat food. Bureaucratic cowards consistently evade real predators because confronting genuine danger requires courage. They target vulnerable, obedient citizens instead to project an illusion of control. A regime that criminalizes decency while excusing decay has lost all legitimacy.

A BLT without the bacon tastes like a rainy Monday. The bacon absolutely carries the tomato, the lettuce and the bread.

Get your protein. I prefer the steak or salmon delivery method. Eggs too.
Had a conversation with a dear friend struggling to come back from a major illness. She: I'm working with a dietician and she advised me to eat more protein. Me: That's great what foods have you added? She: Chia seeds, blueberries, cheese sandwich and yoghurt. 🫣 Me: Wow, you do know that only the yoghurt has protein and very minimal in the cheese. She: Silence. So very hard what we're up against within the "medical" system, one has to wonder how they got their degrees. Caveat the beans below are not complete proteins. #healthcoach #protein #animalfoods #bestrong

The same media that had no issue with Obama questioning a possible link with vaccines and autism, actively castigate RFK Jr. and the Trump Administration for even looking into it.

Now!
Almost everyone is against Flock cameras and the AI surveillance state, right now. But if we don't abolish them soon, in a few years most people won't care about them anymore. A generation later, they'll think we'd have total chaos without them. The time to end them is now.

One day, your home will be empty, and someone will have to decide what to do with your things. They'll open your drawers. They'll find the watch you treasured so much, the car you spent three years paying off, and the clothes you saved for special occasions because you didn't want to wear them out. And they'll make three piles: what to sell, what to give away, and what to throw away. None of it goes with you. Not a single thing. The only thing that goes with you is that afternoon you stayed talking for hours and didn't even realize where the time went. The look on your mom's face when you showed up to visit her without telling her you were coming. Don't collect things... Collect moments with the people you love

My son came to me with some news. He told me Dolly Parton had died and I said I knew. And then he got quiet for a second and said she loved me. She used to send me a lot of books. I had to just look at him for a moment. He was talking about the Imagination Library. The program where Dolly sends books to children every month from birth until they start school. Millions of kids across the country get these books. My son believed that Dolly Parton personally knew him. That she had specifically selected each book, thought about him individually, put it in an envelope, and mailed it to our house every single month because she loved him specifically. Not as part of a program. Not as one of millions of children. But because she and my son had a personal relationship and she was devoted to his literary development specifically. And honestly when you think about it from a child's perspective that's not even an unreasonable conclusion. Books showed up every month with her name attached. She clearly cared. Why wouldn't she know him personally. I didn't have the heart to fully correct him in that moment. Because also he wasn't entirely wrong. She did love him. She loved all of them. She just loved a lot of children at once and had a very efficient system for showing it. Rest easy Dolly. My son misses you personally.
