It’s sad that in Kenya people with the right connections become millionaires overnight, while those investing in factories creating jobs, and building real technology struggle to survive.
We reward middlemen and frustrate manufacturers, yet wonder why we are not industrializing.
This isn't the shit you think it is. Constantine Wasonga is naïvely expressing elitist privilege and classism. Ironically, the same elitism he espouses is what is leading to the collapse of higher education leading to the lecturers' strike @wmnjoya
Because it has mostly been used by those that have it to disadvantage those without and further consolidate their position.
Cameroonians have tried removing him; it's not that easy. I think we Africans love to compare our struggles to that of the European masses centuries ago forgetting that they faced different conditions. European armies & the peasantry were technological at par in terms of weapons.
It's when the Chairman of the Revolutionary Vanguard of the 30th National Congress of Socialists Nationals eats all the grain of the nation while the masses eat chicken food, comrade.

Those 100s of 1000s of fans are mainly fans from the host countries, not international fans flying in to watch the race. The cheapest F1 ticket I could find is $250;there's only a tiny minority in a country with a GDP per capita of $1k that can afford to go for F1.
An F1 Grand Prix is a week of international visitors spending money on hotels, restaurants, transport, entertainment, shopping and tourism. Add corporate hospitality, aviation, sponsorship and the possibility of attracting future investors.
If Rwanda attracted 25,000 international race visitors who each spent an average of $1,500 locally, that would generate $37.5 million in direct visitor spending. Now thats just an estimate but F1 fans who attend are always in hundreds of thousands (please check the numbers and always sold out). Someone saves a whole year to attend.
Actual results would depend on visitor numbers, length of stay, spending patterns and how much money remains in the Rwandan economy.
RwandAir could benefit from additional passenger traffic. Hotels, tour operators, restaurants, taxi operators, local suppliers and small businesses could benefit too. Some visitors might extend their trips to see Rwanda's national parks and other attractions. International coverage could also generate tourism and business interest long after the race weekend.
For perspective, Rwanda's tourism sector generated $647 million in 2024. An F1 weekend could become an additional revenue channel and a global marketing platform.
You need to look at these things using different lenses to get it.
How much will be left in the Rwandan economy will be massive
I have been of the opinion that our parliament and county assemblies should have those earpieces like the ones at UNGA for elected officials. That way you can listen to a translator translating a presentation in their native language. English isn't a measure of intelligence.
Replying to @bougieEva_
I disagree.
Some of the best people who understand our issues at a local level may not be so articulate in English or Kiswahili
If anything - they are well versed and can articulate the issues in local dialect much better
‘English is not a sign of intelligence’
That's not how it works. These are already tight-knit social networks built over generations of family wealth and prestige;golf clubs are merely a by-product of that long historical process. You have to be born or assimilated into that tribe.
French government is blaming "shadowy" figures for "deceiving" high-schoolers never mind they're protesting the government's planned defunding of schools. Kenya government blamed Ford Foundation for protests against #RejectFinanceBill2024 Neoliberal governments are so unoriginal
Honestly, the widespread scepticism of vaccines in Africa is valid. It's informed by a history. Black people have historically been subject to the most degrading unethical science research: The Tuskegee experiments as just one. It's not a moral problem,it's the legacy of racism.
Endometriosis is a disease developed by the Rothschilds and Rockefeller reptilian race of galaxy-brainods to bring the fertility of good obedient Christian women so that the Marxist Socialist Man-hating pink-haired nose-ringed Trans-feminists could bring in the new world order.

I can only imagine the mental toll on the research part piled on by the finances😭......i don't take for granted the Princeton scholarship I was fortunate to earn.
