Cabinet turned down a proposal by then Justice Minister Kiri Allan to stop funding gangs. Hipkins was reportedly concerned that it would affect too many businesses that have gang affiliations. Says it all. – at Auckland, New Zealand

NZNO says short staffing at Starship's kids' cancer ward is "deliberate". @aniobrien checked the union's own figures: 791 shifts below target in 2023 under Labour, nearly three quarters. 31% in 2025. Ask to see the whole graph. aniobrien.substack.com/p/sca…

Premise: Incentives drive all human behavior. The corollary: How to destroy a country: A vast social security and support system that serves as a magnet for those who would rather not work. An open immigration policy that does not screen immigrants to determine their ability and willingness to provide for themselves and their families. An open immigration policy that does not screen for political and/or religious ideologies that are a threat to the country. Economic incentives large enough to incentivize immigrants on the state dole to have large numbers of children, but insufficient for educated and economically productive mothers to be able to quit to raise a family. The declining fertility of the most educated and productive women due to their delay to begin a family as a result of their desire and/or need to advance their careers, among other reasons, to live a life they deem consistent with their educational achievements and/or to repay their student debts. Amnesty programs that give citizenship and voting power to illegal immigrants without consideration of their economic productivity or their threat to the country due to their religious or political ideologies. The changing demographics and increased population due to the above factors. The state responding to protests by increasing social support. The continued failure to punish and hold accountable violent and looting rioters. Government managed by a massive and growing unelected bureaucracy. Government fraud, waste, and abuse contributed to ballooning budgets. Anti-business legislation that makes it difficult for businesses to compete in a global marketplace being disrupted by AI, including restrictions on firing even poorly performing employees. Overly burdensome, globally uncompetitive, corporate taxation. Continuous increases in personal taxes to raise funds to provide for the rapidly growing welfare state. The substantial majority of the tax burden levied on a small percentage of the population. A growing percentage of the electorate paying no taxes and receiving welfare. The introduction or threat of a wealth tax including the taxation of unrealized gains, i.e., taxes on paper wealth. The flight of the most productive business builders and highest taxpayers to lower tax countries with lesser security concerns. A growing percentage of the electorate voting for candidates that support increased welfare and laws favorable to, and/or that match the cultural and ideological needs and desires of a growing unproductive immigrant population. The rapid rise in anti-semitism and inadequate efforts to address this hatred. Increased borrowing by the state to fund the growing social burden. Higher sovereign interest rates due to all of the above. The resulting need to reduce expenditures to make the math work. Increasingly violent protests that make life less livable for the productive and law abiding citizens leading to their accelerated departure. And so on…

You've probably seen the video. A young Frenchwoman in Paris, in tears, begging looters to stop. "Why are you doing this? That's not what we stand for." Some accounts are mocking her. "She voted for it." I won't. Because what you see on her face is not stupidity. It's a disease that has infected the entire West, and it has a name: suicidal empathy. The term comes from Gad Saad, an evolutionary behavioral scientist at Concordia University in Montreal. A man who fled the Lebanese civil war as a child, and who knows what it looks like when a society falls apart. His new book, Suicidal Empathy: Dying to Be Kind, is the follow-up to The Parasitic Mind. Here is the thesis, and why it concerns every one of us. Empathy is one of the best things about us. It evolved for a reason: to care for our children, our kin, our tribe. It was calibrated for a world where the people you felt for were the people around you, and where empathy always came paired with its counterweight: the instinct to protect your own and to recognize a threat. Suicidal empathy is what happens when that mechanism misfires. When it fires at the wrong targets, in the wrong amounts, with no brake. When we feel more for the criminal than for his victim. More for the stranger who breaks the rules than for the citizen who follows them. More for how compassionate we look than for what our compassion actually produces. Where does it come from? Four layers. First, biology. Empathy is a spotlight, as the psychologist Paul Bloom put it. It lights up the one face in front of you and leaves everything else in the dark. The crying migrant on the boat is visible. The thousands of future victims of a broken system are statistics. A spotlight is a terrible tool for running a country. Second, our own civilization. The West is the civilization that put the victim at the center of its morality. Christianity taught us to care for the stranger, the poor, the weak. It was one of the greatest moral revolutions in history. But cut off from its other half, justice, responsibility, the duty to protect your own, it turns into something else. Third, ideology. In The Parasitic Mind, Saad described idea pathogens, ideas that hijack our reasoning. Suicidal empathy is the emotional counterpart: an ideology that hijacks our compassion. It sorts the world into oppressors and victims, then demands unlimited empathy for whoever ranks as the victim, whatever they do. Fourth, status. In the age of social media, empathy has become a display. Posting "refugees welcome" costs nothing and earns applause. The bill goes to someone else: the working class, the suburbs, the women walking home at night. The results are everywhere. Criminals treated as victims of society. Sexual assaults by migrants met with lenient sentences. Self-defense branded as aggression. Borders treated as cruelty. Saad's conclusion is simple: a society dies when it would rather display infinite tolerance than use its survival instinct. Now the part I'll add myself, and that few people dare to say. On average, women score higher than men on measures of empathy. It's one of the most consistent findings in psychology, across cultures, and it makes perfect evolutionary sense: for most of human history, the survival of children depended on it. It's a strength. But it means an ideology that weaponizes empathy will hit women harder. And the data shows it: in country after country, young women have moved sharply to the left of young men, especially on immigration. This is where men have a responsibility. Not to mock. Not to lecture. Not to say "she deserved it." Empathy has always needed a counterweight, and that counterweight was the protective instinct: the one that draws lines, says no, and stands between the threat and the people it loves. Men abandoned that role. They were told it was toxic, and many believed it. So they stayed silent at the dinner table, at work, with their partners, sisters, daughters and friends. That has to end. Men have to have this conversation, honestly and with respect: compassion that cannot say no is not compassion. It's surrender. And the first to pay for it are women. Many women already understand this better than anyone. Some of the bravest voices in this fight are women, precisely because they are the first to feel the danger in the street. A civilization rests on a balance: compassion and strength, openness and borders, mercy and justice. When one side swallows the other, the foundations crack. What we are watching in Europe is what happens when empathy has no counterweight left. Look at that young woman again. She isn't the enemy. She's what this ideology made of a generation that was told kindness would be enough. Our job is to make sure she's the last generation that has to learn it this way.
She voted for it. She welcomed them. Faced with the encore, she begs them to stop. In her heart she knows they will not. Everything she believed. That they were French like her, fighting for the same cause. That the ones who warned her were full of hate. That she would be safe. It all falls apart in this moment. She is terrified of what comes next. In her heart she knows. Only remigration can save her.

Where is the Minister of Police? For years now two tier policing in NZ has favoured whores for Hamas. The police culture that gave us the Albert Park/Posie Parker disgrace and the continuing persecution of Lucy Rogers should have been brought to an end with decisive personnel changes at the top. Now with a fake “examination” of Hopkinson comments on which they should never get a conviction, they seem to think they’ll cover for wanting to suppress @BrianTamakiNZ ‘s opinions. They’re shuffling down the UK’s disastrous path. But without the stupid UK law that forces their cops into it. JUST PROTECT PEOPLE EXERCISING FREE SPEECH RIGHTS, AND TARGET ANY WHO URGE IMMINENT VIOLENCE OR USE IT. That’s our law. Apply it. Clobber thugs. Don’t expand foolishly worded ‘human rights’ law to ape the UK which has arrested thousands for disfavoured tweets and social media dissent.

🚨 NZ 🇳🇿 Police & Their Selective Policing Exposed - So Why The Disparity ? Today Christian ✝️ Church leader Brian Tamaki was served with a summons by police for allegedly inciting racial disharmony. 🔶️ Here is the problem: This smells like differential or very selective biased policing given over the last three years certain elements within NZ have been screeching hate, issuing threats calling for a Intifada (Eradication of Jewish 🔯 folks) including by some maladjusted MP's all in the public domain while @NZpolice have been strangely silent & reluctant to act. So why does this draw little or no public scrutiny and why does NZ police deploy this baised selective enforcement depending on which community they wish to favour?. This exposes a bigger problem within NZ Police, a problem which Police Minister @MarkMitchellMP is also reluctant to talk about. All NZers should be treated equally under the law & Police should apply the law without fear or favour and clearly police are deliberately not doing that. So who will be next? @chrisluxonmp @NZNationalParty @dbseymour @actparty @winstonpeters @nzfirst @NZFreeSpeech
