The trial lawyer plan is simple: Elect fewer Republicans. Make sure more of the Republicans who remain oppose lawsuit reform. That is why they meddle in GOP primaries, fund Democrats in November, and buy access at Republican events.

The Texas Trial Lawyers Association wrote $25,000 checks to Democrats trying to defeat Republicans. A few weeks earlier, TTLA was posing as a friend of the GOP at the state convention. Grover Norquist calls it infiltration. He’s right.

TTLA wants influence in Republican politics, but its own public agenda tells a different story. They promote DEI on their website and advertise seminars for personal injury lawyers on representing undocumented clients in civil lawsuits. That is not the Republican platform.
