A while ago, I thought doing things in a clever way was cool. Now, I understand that simple is better than clever. Clever is mostly showing off.

Important issue. My take with @qdtrinh and @MQCarlton from @XipiterSec - Fun article spawned by a debate over beers “how hard would it be for someone to hack a surgical robot” bostonglobe.com/ideas/2017/1…

Another unpopular opinion: InfoSec only thinks about intelligent and capable adults in awareness campaigns. Case in point, have you seen small children trying to use passwords of appropriate complexity? They are simple incapable of remembering non trivial secrets.
I was told today that changing human behaviours (for security) is near impossible, no matter how much awareness raising is done. They recommended removing human choice from the equation - thoughts?

Yup! Programs were once woven into "core memory"..."one program could take months to weave". This video has a bonus cameo from Margaret Hamilton (of Lunar Landing fame) explaining "core" rope memory. youtu.be/P12r8DKHsak

Perf uses Linux Tracing, which is the fastest way to trace the system events that you are interested in. 90% of what you want to trace via eBPF, you can get via perf, going all the way back to Linux Kernel 2.6.31.

We know what security nihilism is, but have we thought about what security neuroticism is? I think it is when fear rules over reason. Analogue: In NYC, we've all seen sketchy window air conditioners and feared them falling on us. Walking in the street to avoid them isn't safer.

How to stay secure: don't use USB sticks, don't click on links, don't install apps, don't download software, don't use Wi-Fi hotspots, don't believe what you read on the Internet, don't use computers, don't go outside, don't eat, don't breathe, don't be.
