Publicly humiliating is Powrakarmika in unacceptable in a democracy. Efficiency does not mean scolding the workers, but managing the city in a scientific and humane manner while maintaining the rights, dignity and security of the workers.
Contract pourakarmikas demanded permanent jobs. Krishna Byre Gowda had a blunt response. When civic workers demanded that their services be regularised, the Bengaluru Development Minister reportedly questioned whether the government should make them permanent when, according to him, 30% do not report for work every day and the city continues to struggle with cleanliness. “The city is unclean and people are blaming us. Should we still make you permanent when you don’t report for work?” So where do you stand? Should contract civic workers be given job security and permanent employment regardless? #bengaluru #KrishnaByreGowda #Pourakarmika #karnataka

I started working on a story to understand how Naga and Kuki communities got past the 90's conflict in March 2025. Basically I wanted to understand what happened to people who were displaced from the conflict. I kept attempting to finish writing this but it was just too intense

Caste makes you think that you are entitled to a special kind of respect from those whom you consider below you. When you suspect that this respect hasn't been shown, rage is the result. If you didn't rage, where will it end?? Next, they will be considering you an equal! This is the rage that you see, off and on, from NCR in particular. After all, NCR falls in the region where the first caste took shape, some 3000 years ago.

The title of what is commonly known as Manusmriti is Manava Dharmashastra. It was written around 150 CE, and belongs to the genre of 'dharmashastras/ dharmasutras' or law books, of which there are dozens. The earliest of the genre is considered to have been Apastamba Dharmasutra, composed around 3rd century BCE, followed by Gautama, Baudhayana, and Vasistha Dharmasutras, all of which are in prose and earlier than Manusmriti. Manusmriti was the first to be written in verse, and the law books written later mostly followed that practice and all of them are called Dharmashastras. Manusmriti became the most influential among the lawbooks, going by the number of references later authors of law and other books would make to it in the first millennium CE and later. The fact that it was far more comprehensive than earlier works also contributed to that influence - it incorporated much of what was earlier in the domain of 'arthasastra'. Manusmriti is generally regarded as more stringent than other law books, but it is no outlier, and falls within the ambit of the genre of dharmashastras/dharmasutras. All the dharmashastra/sutra texts uphold the four-fold hierarchical division of society into brahmanas, kshatriyas, vaisya and sudra. Unlike the Epics or Puranas, the dharmashastras/sutras were not written for a general audience. They were technical texts written for professional use, mainly by an upper caste, male audience.

“मेरे पास पाँच मास्टर्स की डिग्रियाँ हैं। फ्रेंच फ़िलॉसफ़ी में मैंने फ़्रांस से मास्टर्स किया है, लेकिन मैं दावे के साथ कह सकता हूँ कि अगर मंडल कमीशन नहीं होता, तो मैं JNU में प्रोफ़ेसर नहीं होता। मेरिट के नाम पर हमारे अस्तित्व को ही अपराध बना दिया गया है।” ~ डॉ. Any change to reservation scheme should be followed by agitations for separate electorates, explicit declaration that Dalits aren’t Hindus, mass conversions & demand for a Proportional Representation System.

The disturbing part is not just the hatred toward Dalits, but how comfortably it is expressed... so casually, so openly, as if degrading a Dalit is perfectly acceptable. It says something far bigger about the caste prejudice that still survives beneath the surface... when misogyny, sexual vulgarity and caste hatred become so effortless, the problem isn't just the individual, it is the culture that made him feel comfortable saying it.
This a**hole is saying that Chandrasekhar should send his sister to him, and he will do “BDSM,” miss!onary, and do*gy positions. He says he can send his mother too. These are the so called leaders of the Reservation Hatao movement. The level of hatred, casteism, and misogyny they display will only force the government to increase reservation up to 70%.

Every Hindu Dalit should hear this. The "Hindutva" - a sophisticated word invented by liberals for Manuwaad - has come to the full circle. The keepers of Manuwaad is openly insulting former Untouchables, their history, and their future. The insults perhaps will awaken Hindu Dalit

Kharge is the president of India’s largest Opposition party, but the office he occupies does not seem to erase the history he carries. Those who know his life story know that he grew up in Karnataka amid the violence, loss, and humiliations of caste and untouchability. Decades later, after rising to one of the highest echelons of Indian public life, he was made to confront the same old fiction—that his very presence could defile, that his body could still be marked as impure. There is something profoundly tragic in that return. @SumitSamos writes. Read the full article: thequint.com/opinion/silence…

A lot of Savarna commentator are regurgitating their caste bias against Separate Electorate, recently demanded by Azad in the Parliament. Separate electorate is part of Dalits' history and their political struggle since as long as Depressed Classes were identified
