Lifting the charter cap will give generations of kids the access they deserve to a great public education. It’s the right thing to do, and I’m grateful to @GovKathyHochul for committing to it on the debate stage tonight.

When Crystal McQueen-Taylor was 8, her mom fought for her right to take the Gifted + Talented exam. She took it in the janitor closet. Later, she graduated Brown University with honors. She thinks everyone deserves a great education. And now, she’s our new Executive Director.

The @uft losing the plot here to promote its own interests. There are more teachers in NYC Public Schools now than there were 5 years ago but almost 100K fewer students. There are budget reductions b/c their are enrollment reductions and no more fed Covid relief funds.

Falsely pleading poverty, the NYC DOE released school budgets that needlessly cut school funding & rolled back the progress made in creating small class sizes this school year. See how much money your school could lose if we don't fight these cuts: uft.org/budget

American public education is broken. We need a new, stronger model of public education that's based on evidence and centered on children. That’s why @BloombergDotOrg is committing $750 million to support the success and growth of public charter schools: on.wsj.com/3d7kYZE

Opinion | Michael Bloomberg: Why I’m Backing Charter Schools

The public school system is failing. My philanthropy will give $750 million to a proven alternative.
