Why should a family in a £150k terrace pay a bigger share of their home’s value than someone in a £3m mansion? A Proportional Property Tax fixes that with one rate, everyone pays their fair share, and 77% pay less 👇 hounslowherald.com/millions-…

Two years ago today, we exposed huge amounts of illegal sewage dumping in Windermere. And still, the Environment Agency has done nothing about it. @WindrushWasp
🚨 Breaking News 🚨 Save Windermere has once again been involved in exposing United Utilities exploitation of Windermere. Today the BBC reported that in the last 3 years, United Utilities has ILLEGALLY dumped 143,000,000 litres of untreated sewage directly into Windermere from just one of their sites — that’s thethe equivalent of 23 million toilet flushes, 1,600 double-decker buses, or enough to fill Big Ben 30 times! 💩 According to the BBC, United Utilities claims they reported these incidents at Glebe Road Pumping Station as soon as they were aware, which suggests they simply didn’t know about the instances of illegality from 2021 to September 2023, despite it being their statutory obligation to show permit compliance. The BBC estimates an additional 24 incidents that weren’t reported at the time could have cost the company £2.5 million through lower rewards or greater penalties. You might be thinking, where’s the Environment Agency? Isn’t this their job? Well, once again, they’ve turned a blind eye. They’ve failed to ask for the data, failed to hold United Utilities accountable and failed to protect Windermere from this predatory behaviour. We need your help to stop this 🫵 👊 Tag @Keir_Starmer

👊 Share the video with the hashtag #savewindermere Let’s try and get this trending. Keir Starmer has often spoken about his love for the Lake District. Now it’s time for him to put his money where his mouth is and end sewage pollution in Windermere once and for all. Windermere is a symbol of our cultural heritage, a key driver of the local and national economy, and a sanctuary for rare and protected wildlife. This is a national and international disgrace, one of the country’s greatest natural treasures is being exploited by the multi-billion pound private water company. It’s time for Westminster to act. @Keir_Starmer , it’s time to stop the sewage to Save Windermere. This is what happens when the broken Council Tax system is allowed to fester. A £17.5m budget gap within three years should never been allowed to happen. We need affordable, sustainable, fair funding for local authorities. A full review into property tax is needed to fix the system. burytimes.co.uk/news/2664110…

Imagine being blocked by Currys for helping too many of its customers with complaints. 😂 I'll take that as an accolade and a compliment! As Black Friday and Christmas shopping approaches, please for the love of God, look at the replies and complaints on their X account and choose a proper retailer. You work hard for your money. Make sure you spend it wisely. 🛍️ #WePutOurCustomersLast #ConsumerRights

Wandsworth are set to see their Council Tax bills double next year. This is the result of a broken system still based on property values in 1991. @MarshadeCordova @PutneyFleur will you back an independent review of Council Tax on behalf og your constituents? putney.news/2026/10/13/wands…

Affording a home, a holiday and some money left over shouldn't be a luxury. Replacing Council Tax & Stamp Duty with a 0.48% annual property tax would reduce bills for 77% of households, making home ownership a reality again, and put an av. £556 per year back into people's pockets.
Imagine working 40+ hours a week and still not being able to afford a house, a family, a holiday or even a comfortable life. Your reward for working hard is watching your wages disappear into rent, council tax, energy bills and food shopping. Then you're told to stop buying coffees and learn how to budget. We're not bad with money, there's just never anything left to save.

This is about as far away you can get to actually solving the problems the UK is facing. When a Band D property in somewhere like Blackpool pays over £1,000 more than in Westminster, despite homes are worth about 6.4× more in the latter, the issue is clear. We need a Proportional Property Tax to make the UK a fair place to live. This can't continue.
We'll have a full analysis of the Conservatives' proposed inheritance tax cuts tomorrow. But, for now, three charts. 1. Who would benefit from the cuts?

Meanwhile Council Tax & Stamp Duty already leaves the top 2-3% of homes paying a far smaller share of their value than everyone else. If @UKLabour are serious about making life fairer for people in the UK, Council Tax & Stamp Duty are the first places to start, with 77% of households paying less under a 0.48% proportional property tax.
People with £1m+ family homes gain most from Tory inheritance tax plans. Savills estimate that 673,143 homes in GB were worth £1 million or more in 2025. That's the top 2-3% of homes in the country. London and the South East together account for nearly 3/4 of the total.

Another day. Another London Council in crisis. A 150% Council Tax rise in Hammersmith & Fulham would be the biggest since the tax began in 1993. The PM has called Council Tax "highly regressive". Raising a regressive tax won't fix it. It needs a full independent review before the Budget. thetimes.com/money/tax/artic…

Councils keep adding premiums to make Council Tax work... double bills for empty homes and for second homes. If the system needs this many workarounds, isn't it time to look at the whole thing? We're calling for a full independent review in the Autumn Budget and real change. @catkinson80 @BaggyShanker, will you back real change for your constituents in the Autumn Budget? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmqj…

Replying to @KirstieMAllsopp
Thanks for sharing @KirstieMAllsopp. This is exactly why property tax needs reform. We tax people for moving home, then hit them every year with a Council Tax system based on property values from 1991. Scrap Stamp Duty. Scrap Council Tax. Replace both with our simple, proportional property tax. fairershare.org.uk/

Want a bigger home for a growing family? Taxed ❌ Want to downsize? Taxed ❌ Need to move for work? Taxed ❌ Stamp Duty actively discourages people from moving home. There is a better way: scrap Stamp Duty and Council Tax and replace them with our proportional property tax.
It is completely INSANE that wanting more space for a growing family & WFH, and employing numerous people to achieve that, becomes a reason to tax people.

London doesn't need another tax raid. It needs Stamp Duty scrapped. Stamp Duty is already a mansion tax, just the worst version that's paid upfront, only when you move & before you've even got the keys. Review Council Tax and Stamp Duty together. Replace them with something fairer. thesun.co.uk/money/40280114/…

The Director of @JLMMortgageSvs is right. We need to scrap Stamp Duty to unlock the UK housing market. It prevents downsizing, clogs up the market and stops first time buyers finding their first home. We need a system that's fair & growth friendly. Back the PPT. mpamag.com/uk/mortgage-types…

The property tax debate is heating up ahead of the #AutumnBudget. But the answer isn’t another tax piled on top of Council Tax and Stamp Duty. It’s replacing two outdated, unfair taxes with one fairer system based on what homes are actually worth. thenegotiator.co.uk/news/reg…
