The #BMXBandits have a beautiful new single out - “Setting Sun”. So very pretty. I have adored @DuglasTStewart’s group for well over 30 years. Life can never be sad with the BMX Bandits in it.

Farewell Astrud Gilberto. The compilation tape of Astrud’s music I bought in the 80s was my introduction to #bossa and I never looked back. A key musical style in my life. 1970’s “Beginnings” remains a tour de force for me. Thanks Astrud 🙏 #AstrudGilberto

The first time I met Andy Rourke I told him he’d helped to get me through my adolescence. It tickled him. Always a gent. The Smiths meant so much to so many of us back in the 80s. Bless you #AndyRourke 🙏

Very sad to hear that #RitaLee has died. A key singer-songwriter in Brazil’s Tropicália movement and an original member of the space age, groundbreaking Os Mutantes. A particular fave of mine is Rita’s second solo album, “Hoje É O Primeiro Dia Do Resto Da Sua Vida” from 1972. 🇧🇷

Can’t sleep so I’m reading #JaneBirkin’s “Munky diaries 1957-1982”. Fascinating. Frank, passionate, reflective and so evocative. Love, loss and understanding writ large ❤️

Back in ‘86 I was pretty into @neworder and I thought Barney was so cool. Poor photo I know, but my 1986 hair was an attempt to look like Mr Sumner. State of the nation eh!

In 2019 I saw a tweet by @rocking_bob about a ‘Great lost album’ from 1970 by @PetulaClarkHQ - “Conversations In The Wind”, the last LP-length collaboration with #TonyHatch. Well, I finally got a copy and it is sumptuous, string-laden fare. Super vocals and arrangements. Ta Bob!

Not sure how to articulate my feelings about the passing of #BurtBacharach … his music was so beautifully constructed and was so pretty on the ear. Like all good #easylistening, Burt’s music was anything but an easy listen because there was so much going on in those grooves ❤️

Lawrence Hayward is back with @Mozart_Estate’s “Pop-up! Ker-ching! and the possibilities of modern shopping” album. Features lyrical references to Poundland, Balfron Tower, Primark, relative poverty, Gustave Doré, barcodes, etc. Great melodies and groovy tunes. On @CherryRedGroup
