I've heard the argument made several times that horror is the most moral of genres. The lines between good and evil are usually painted clearly. No other genre punishes evil human characters as swiftly or as completely.

Hey, writers, I'm moderating a panel this weekend on creating characters. What's the best piece of advice you've ever read or heard on inventing characters that readers care about?
Everybody in the book I'm reading is an idiot. The big bad is an idiot. His henchmen are idiots. The hero is an idiot. His love interest is an idiot. The rich guy that's getting fleeced is an idiot. I hope I get to the part with punching and explosions soon. Or I may not finish.
I'm figuring out what to do with the royalty-split anthologies I've published with @Draft2Digital. I know several authors now want out of D2D altogether, as they only joined to get the royalty split. I'll be sending out an email, but if you have any ideas, reach out.
I think @Draft2Digital is shooting themselves in the foot with this account fee mess. I know a bunch of low-selling yet high quality authors who are planning on leaving. The slopsmiths will just pay the fee and increase the amount of slop to cover it.
